Plant of rape from bottom to top has great difference in maturity degree, and its pod is easily cracked,so it makes great harvesting loss.at the same time,it takes lots of labor and working intension,and bad harvesting condition. This paper designs a rape windrower in order to achieve better effect of harvest. The structure includes reel spoke device, cutting device, transmission device, drive system and frame, etc. This paper studied the biological characteristics of rape, ensured the structural design and parameter determination of the windrow device structure of the key components, and analyzed the movement simulation and finite element of strength of the cutting device. It got the result of the knife speed, displacement, acceleration curve and the cutting process of strain, stress, displacement and safety factor. Based on the test device that had experiment on the single factor and three rapeseed harvesting factor four level orthogonal of rape windrow device, and analyzed the effect of each factor on experimental index according to the test results, and obtained the best factor level combination and ratio of motion parameters. The main conclusions as follows:(1)The height and crown diameter of rape increases with the stem diameter. The increment of crown diameter decreased when the stem diameter reached a certain height, and it kept in certain mathematically eventually. Stem cutting force decreased with stem height increased, and its cutting strength increased with stem height increased; the minimum height of pods was 35cm from the ground. It was suitable for cutting at the height of 30cm from the ground.(2) Analysis of the key components showed that the suitable speed of reel was 9 ~18r/min; the transverse guide baffle installation needed to tilt which can reduce the double cutting of stalk; the height of the top and bottom installation with tooth deliver chain were 750mm and 260mm; swathing device should be installed with a separated device to break down the force between the stalk the deliver chain tooth.(3) Through the analysis of kinematics of reciprocating cutter and combination of the existed cutting parameters, it may be appropriate to reduce the advance speed to reduce the leakage and repeat cutting of stalk cutting; using SolidWorks software to do the three-dimensional modeling of cutting device and imported into ADMAS software for simulation and analysis, to get the displacement, velocity, acceleration curve; using simulation plug-in unit of SolidWorks software to analyze of the blade and conveying chain gear, determining it has been reached the cutting and conveying strength.(4) Windrow device test has showed:the reel speed had a significant effect to laying placement angle of swath rape, advance speed had a both significant effect on the laying angle and thickness of swath rape; the orthogonal test got the optimal factor as follows:the reel speed was 12r/min, transmission speed was 1.05m/s, advance speed was 0.45m/s. and the best combination of the ratio of reel pad peripheral speed and machine moving speed is 1.396 according to this, the best transport to the middle conveying ratio is 2.333.
