Identification of grain-weight related genes is important for high yield breeding. In previous study, the TaPRPs encoding for novel porline-rich proteins were cloned using 3'-RACE and RT-PCR.The TaPRPs mainly expressed in the flower blossom and seed during 0 hours to 3 days, which indicated that TaPRPs involved in the process of early seed development. In this study, the gene TaRP.1 was overexpressed in transgenic wheat through microprojectile bombardment, the genes function was analysis preliminary. The TaPRP.1 was expressed in spikes, with no expression in other tissues. The TaPRP.1 overexpression vector was transformed into wheat through particle bombardment. The TaPRP.1 expression was enhanced in four transgenic lines, and thousand-grain weights of the transgenic lines were significantly improved than the non-transgenic control. In the transgenic lines, the TaPRP.1 expression was highest at 5 day after pollination and reduced during the maturing process.
