Effect Of The Combination Of Bio-organic Fertilizer With Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens NJN-6 On The Control Of Banana Fusarium Wilt Disease

Fusarium wilt disease is one of the most destructive soil-borne disease that can afflict banana plants,and is caused by the invasion of pathogenic Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cubense(FOC).More worsely,because of almost all banana orchards in the world are monocultured as a long-term practice agriculture and managed without appropriate ways to control this disease,resulting in the soil-borne disease more worse and spread quickly.As a consequence,the sustainable development of the banana industry has been severely hindered by this soil-borne disease.Bio-organic fertilizer application is one of the most inportant mangement to biocontrol this banana soil-borne disease as safe,efficient and environmental friendly way at the same time.In this study,we developed a kind of special bio-organic fertilizer for controling banana Fusarium wilt disease,and explored the effects of applying this bio-organic fertilizer on controling banana Fusarium wilt disease and promoting plant growth by both pot and field experiments.Also,the effects of applying this bio-organic fertilizer on improving the soil physical and chemical properties and manipulation of soil microbial communites at both pot and field experiments were studied.The main results were obtained as follows:1.Results from both pot and field experiments that were carried out to evaluate the efficacy of the bio-organic fertilizer on controlling of banana Fusarium wilt showed that application of bio-organic fertilizer could significantly suppress the Fusarium wilt disease.The efficacy of bio-organic fertilizer on controlling banana Fusarium wilt disease was more than 39%in the second year under two-year pot experiments.Moreover,under five-year field experiments,the efficacy of bio-organic fertilizer on controlling banana Fusarium wilt disease was more than 64%as the Fusarium wilt incidence as significantly decreased to 19%in fifth year.2.Results from both pot and field experiments that were carried out to study the efficacy of the bio-organic fertilizer on the growth of banana demostrated that application of bio-organic fertilizer could significantly promote the growth and yield of banana.In two-year pot experiments,the bio-organic fertilizer treatment significantly enhanced the fresh and dry weights of the banana plants by 23%and 28%,respectively,compared to control after planted banana tissure culture seeding for 60 days.In five-year field experiments,the bio-organic fertilizer application significantly increased the shoot height and stem diameter of the banana plants by 11%and 9%and the mean banana fruit weights by 4.1 kg tree-1,and yield by 23.25 t ha-1,respectively,compared to control.3.Results from both pot and field experiments that were carried out to explore the effect of the bio-organic fertilizer on the soil microbial communites illustrated that application of bio-organic fertilizer could significantly manipulate the population of soil microbial communites.For two-year pot experiments,the bio-organic fertilizer treatment significantly suppressed the population of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cubense in rhizosphere and bulk soil by 66%and 76%,while that was 92%and 67%in five-year field experiments,respectively,compared to control.In addition,the bio-organic fertilizer treatment also significantly increased the number of bacillus and bacteria,but decreased the number of fungi in rhizosphere and bulk soil,respectively,compared to control.4.Results from both pot and field experiments that were carried out to research the effect of the bio-organic fertilizer on the soil physical and chemical properties exhibited that application of bio-organic fertilizer could significantly improve the soil physical and chemical properties.In two-year pot experiments,the bio-organic fertilizer treatment significantly increased the soil enzyme activity of urease,sucrase,phosphatase and catalase by 7%,5%,3%and 5%,and the content of soil nitrate nitrogen by 55%,respectively,compared to control.In addition,in two-year pot experiments and five-year field experiments,compared with control,the bio-organic fertilizer significantly improved the soil pH.In summary,the application of bio-organic fertilizer could significantly suppress the Fusarium wilt disease,promote the plant growth and yield of banana,decrease the number of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cubense and fungi,increase the number of bacillus and bacteria in rhizosphere and bulk soil,improve the soil pH,increase the soil enzyme activity and the content of soil nitrate nitrogen.
