This research aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation ofArtemisia argyi powder(AAP)on the antioxidative and immune function in broilers and its mechanism,in order to provide theoretical basis for the application of AAP in broiler industry.In this experiment,a total of 240 1-day-old AA broilers were selected and randomly divided into 5 dietary treatments,each treatment consisted of 6 replicates with 8 birds per replicate(half male and half female).Five dietary treatments were supplemented with,respectively,0,2500,5000.10000and 20000mg/kg AAP in basal diet.The experiment lasted for 42 days,and divided into early(d 1-21)and late(d 22-42)periods.The results showed that:1.With the increase of the added Artemisia argyi powder,(1)at the age of 21 days,GSH-Px activity in liver showed a quadratic(P=0.019)increase;CAT showed a significant linear(P=0.016)increase;at the age of 42 days,CAT showed a significant linear(P=0.010)or quadratic(P=0.041)increase;T-AOC showed a significant linear(P=0.011)or quadratic(P=0.044)increase;MDA showed a significant linear(P=0.023)or quadratic(P=0.047)decrease;(2)at the age of 21 days,SOD activity in duodenum showed a quadratic(P=0.029)increase;MDA showed quadratic(P=0.032)decrease;(3)at the age of 21 days,CAT activity in jejunum showed a significant linear or quadratic increase(P<0.01);T-AOC activity showed a quadratic(P=0.032)increase;MDA showed a significant linear(P=0.413)or quadratic(P=0.029)decrease;at the age of 42 days,GSH-Px activity showed a significant(P=0.048)increase;SOD activity showed a significant(P=0.035)increase;T-AOC activity showed a significant linear(P=0.046)or quadratic(P=0.076)increase;MDA showed a quadratic(P=0.016)reduce;(4)at the age of 21 days,CAT activity in ileum showed a significant linear(P=0.018)or quadratic(P=0.035)increase;at the age of 42 days,SOD activity showed a significant linear(P=0.026)or quadratic(P=0.089)increase;MDA showed a significant linear(P=0.005)or quadratic(P=0.006)decrease;(5)at the age of 42 days,T-AOC activity in breast muscle muscle showed a significant linear(P-0.023)increase.(6)at the age of 21 days,MDA in serum showed a significant linear(P=0.014)or quadratic(P=0.033)decrease,and T-AOC activity showed a significant linear(P=0,039)increase.2.With increasing addition of Artemisia argiy power in diets of broilers,(1)at the age of 42 days,SOD gene relative expression in liver showed a quadratic(P=0.019)increase;CAT gene relative expression showed a quadratic(P=0.019)increase;(2)at the age of 21 days,the relative expression level of SOD gene in duodenum showed a quadratic increase(P=0.029);at the age of 42 days,SOD gene relative expression showed a quadratic(P=0.026)increase,and CAT gene relative expression showed a significant linear(P=0.008)or a significant quadratic(P=0.032)increase;(3)at the age of 21 days,the relative expression level of SOD gene in jejunum showed a quadratic increase(P=0.045),and the relative expression level of CAT gene showed a significant increase(P=0.024);at the age of 42 days,the relative expression level of GSH-Px gene showed a significant linear(P=0.038)or quadratic(P=0.049)increase;(4)at the age of 42 days,the relative expression level of GSH-Px gene in ileum showed a quadratic(P=0.016)increase;the relative expression level of SOD gene showed a extremely significant quadratic increase(P=0.002),and the relative expression level of CAT gene showed a quadratic(P=0.018)increase;(5)at the age of 21 days,the relative expression level of GSH-Px gene in spleen showed a significant linear(P=0.011)a quadratic(P=0.041)increase;at the age of 42 days,the relative expression level of SOD gene showed a quadratic(P=0.010)increase,and the relative expression level of CAT gene showed a quadratic(P=0.001)increase.3.With increasing addition of Artemisia argiy power in diets,at the age of 21 days,Newcastle disease antibody titer showed a linear increasing trend(P=0.066)or significant quadratic increase(P=0.043).At 42 days of age,the serum IL-4 level showed significant linear(P = 0.038)or quadratic(P = 0.015)decrease.4.With increasing addition of Artemisia a.rgiy power in diets,serum iNOS activity at 21 days of age showed a significant linear increase(P = 0.075);(2)at 21 days of age,the relative expression of iNOS in duodenum showed a significant quadratic increase(P= 0.097).From the above results,it could be concluded that Artemisia argiy power significantly improved antioxidative and immune function in broilers.
