Tuber is the economic organ of potato crop, its formation and growth are the foundation of determining potato yield. Therefore, the process of potato tuber formation and its influencing factors have been the research focus of plant physiology and agronomy for several decades. As early as the beginning of the 20th century,a scholar had proposed that the formation of potato tubers might be impacted by C/N in plants. However, the influence of C/N in potato plants on tubers formation is still not clear yet.Basing on this, the study aims to test the C/N theory by observing the change of C/N in plants under different carbon supplies with certain nitrogen supply level.According to the sources of carbon, two experiments were designed, which one of them was designed to adjust the carbon supply by increasing CO2 and did another by changing the seed-potato size. The results show as follows:1.The increase of CO2 did not impact the total carbon content in the potato plants, but the total nitrogen content in the plants decreased significantly with the increase of CO2,resulting in increased C/N in the plants.2.The increase of C/N in the potato plants caused by increased CO2 supply promoted the early formation of tubers and significantly increased the number and weight of tubers.3.Increasing the weight of the seed-potato can provide more carbon source for the plants at the seedling stage of the potato, thus accelerating the formation of tubers and increasing the number and weight of potato tubers.
