The potato cultivator's operating quality can be directly affected by the performance of hilling device.At present,the major study objects about cultivators are the breakage rate of soil particles,the mass and distribution of upcast soil.But the study on them so far has not been satisfying,which does certain restriction on operating.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct a further study.The cultivator hilling device was the study object in this paper.In order to improve the soil particle breakage rate,increase the upcast soil mass and optimize the soil distribution,software EDEM was used to carry out simulation based on the theory of discrete element method,then through the orthogonal test,the influence trend was studied which was caused by the factors such as rotation speed,walking speed,bending angle,length of cutting edge,number of cutters and angle of the shell.Finally comprehensive analysis was conducted to figure out the optimal set of parameters.The main work arrangements are as follows:(1)Through the analysis of the hilling device movement,rotation mode was determined,and the breakage rate of soil particles,the mass and distribution of upcast soil were selected as the study objects to measure the property of hilling device.Meanwhile the hilling cutter motion,upcast soil particles motion and the collision and motion of the hilling device were analyzed.The feasibility of the hilling device was theoretically studied,Moreover the force between particles is analyzed combined with some soil parameters and the theoretical model of discrete particles.(2)By means of software EDEM,the influence on the breakage rate of soil particles,the mass and distribution of the upcast soil was studied which was caused by the rotation speed,walking speed,bending angle,length of cutting edge,number of cutters and angle of the shell,which was caused by the rotation speed,walking speed,bending angle,length of cutting edge,number of cutters and angle of the shell.(3)The scheme was determined through orthogonal test,EDEM simulation was used to find the primary and secondary relations of these factors and to figure out the optimal level,which could help in practical production.
