Tomato is one of the most popular vegetable in the worldwide.It is not only rich in variety but also has some medical value.However,there are often large-scale reduction of output in tomato production because of the damage of drought?chilling injury?pests and diseases.Neurite attachmentsis distributed on the surface of different plants,providing protection for plants all the time,which is a very important organization of plants.Previous studies showed that,The trichomes can protect the plant against some of the protective effects with some of its known or unknown immune responses,when the plants are exposed to the outside world.At present,the research in this area is mainly focused on the development process of the wo and the role of the tomato trichomes with glands in the insect resistance like the VI type.The study of the difference and the resistance under stress of epidermal hair can provide theoretical support and practical basis for the stress resistant breeding.Therefore,it is of great importance to study the relationship between the characteristics of epidermal hair and the resistance of tomato by the electron microscope and other equipments to study the function of tomato fur in the process of resistance.In this study,the tomato wo mutant LA3186 hairy variety(ereinafter referred to as "3186 hairy")?LA3186 less hairy varieties(hereinafter referred to as "3186 less hair")and In mutant LA3-071(hereinafter referred to as "3-071")were used as material,Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)was used to observe the state type and density of trichomes in the material tomato's surface.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)was used to observe the chloroplast structure in the leaves of common tomato and tomato with wo and In.We obtain the relationship between surface characteristics and stress resistance through the above varieties of low temperature,drought,pest and insect pests and other stress analysis and comparative analysis.The main results are as follows:(1)Scanning electron microscopy discovered:3186 types of trichomes were mainly type II,type III non glandular hairs and type I glandular hair,and the hair's cover is large with large variety and high density;The main types of trichomes in the 3186 less hairy varieties are:type III,non glandular hairs and type VI glandular hairs.The coverage is small and short,the gland is less,the density is relatively low.There are long hair and short hair interphase growth.The main types of epidermal hairs in variety common JiaRen are the non glandular hairs and the type of VI glandular hairs,Moreover,the amount of trichomes is small,the species is few,and the density is relatively low,the height of the hair is even and short,and the surface of the leaf is very smooth.(2)The cold resistance of these several varieties shows:3186 hairy>JiaRen>3186 less hair>3-071,By comparing the density of the trichomes and the type of the unit area,we found that the high density of glandular hairs could improve the cold tolerance of tomato varieties to some extent.(3)The results of the decrease of RWC content after drought treatment in four days:3186 hairy<3-071<3186 hairless<common JiaRen.Scanning electron microscopy shows that species with high volume of glandular hairs,especially the non glandular hair rich varieties,have the strong water storage capacity and the better drought resistance.(4)In the experiment of spraying Botrytis cinerea,Combining the enzyme activity and disease index showes that the characteristics of resistance to Botrytis cinerea were the type III non glandular hair is rich.The average height of hairy body was better than the other varieties,and the varieties of shorter average height has a poor antibacterial performance.(5)In the experiment of the treatment of whitefly,Combining the enzyme activity and disease index.shows:3186 hairy<3-071<JiaRen<3186 less hair.It was found that the insect resistant effect was better with the density of type ? and ? glandular hairs and the density of trichomes.The study laid a theoretical foundation and practical basis for further utilization and regulation of the trichome characteristics of tomato.
