Cotton?G hirsutum L.?is an important economic crop and raw material of textile industry in China, and it plays an important role in our national economy. But in recent years, the planting area for cotton steadily decrease, partly because of the high cost of cotton production, another reason is the cotton quality is too poor. Therefore,to solve the problem of cotton production cost is very important at present. The new plant growth regulator AFD is an agent of flower bud differentiation. It have lots of functions include inhibit the excess bud growth, control plant structure development, increase boll weight, promote the concentration of flowering and mature and improve the fiber quality consistency. For explore a new type of chemical control technology,a study based on AFD was developed in Anyang a city in Henan,in 20152016.The aim of this study was to explore a more reasonable method of chemical regulation, and to achieve higher economic benefits with less investment. The experimental results show:1.Compared with effect of DPC and control, the effect of the new plant growth regulator AFD was significantly higher on physiological properties and maturity of cotton.AFD can promote the content of chlorophyll in the leaves of cotton, deepen the leaf color of leaves, enhance the absorption of photosynthetically active radiation?PAR?,and enhance the photosynthesis of leaves. It has strong inhibition on the activity of gibberellin?GA?and has a strong effect on the activity of superoxide dismutase?SOD?,but has little effect on the peroxidase?POD?and catalase?CAT?.AFD can increase ZA content, decrease IAA content and increase ZA/IAA,promote the differentiation of flower buds.2.AFD has obvious effect on cotton bud protecting in the early flowering period, but also has high conversion efficiency by bud to bell.At the same time, the application of AFD could increase the boll weight of inner fruit nodes,The average weight of 1-4 fruit branches increase 0.93g and the second fruit branch increases 4.2g compare with control. Therefore,AFD has obvious effect which promote the cotton boll opening intensicely and early maturity in cotton.3.The effects of different concentrations of AFD on the spatial distribution of PAR in cotton canopy were quite different. And the canopy sealing degree was negatively correlated with AFD concentration. The dry matter weight of the reproductive part was the highest at AFD concentration of1350 and 1800 ml hm-2.The fiber length was not significantly different from that of the control group without AFD when the dosage of AFD was 900ml hm-2,but was significantly higher than that in the other treatments with AFD.It can be seen that AFD has inhibitory effect on fiber length. The fiber uniformity was significantly higher than that of other treatments and CK at 450 and 900 ml hm-2.In addition, there was no significant difference in the strength, micronaire and the elongation of each treatment.AFD chemical control helps to increase production. The seed cotton weight is largest and significantly higher than the control group which did not use AFD chemical control at the AFD application dosage was 1350 ml hm-2.At the AFD application rate was 900 and 1350 ml hm-2 when the lint percentage was significantly higher than other treatments and the control.4.From the different chemical control times, there was no significant difference between the chemical control times and yield in the growth period. But in the growth period,2 times of applicating AFD chemical control had the greatest impact on yield improvement, and didn't need too much labor. At the same time,if in the cotton belt that labor cost is high or is not easy for mechanized operations, the chemical control of 1 time of applicating AFD can be selected during the growth period, although the method reduces the labor intensity, but the yield was decline. In conclusion, different AFD concentration and different chemical control times will have a certain impact on the growth and development of cotton, and ultimately affect the yield and fiber quality of cotton. In cotton production,we should choose the appropriate concentration of AFD and the number of chemical control according to the local planting conditions,so as to obtain the maximum economic benefit on the basis of reducing the production cost as much as possible.
