The global climate change has become the hot focus of the international community.In recent years,carbon cycle has increasingly drawn special attention in the field of global change and geoscience.The forest ecosystem carbon cycling is an important component of the global carbon cycle,playe a not negligible role to global climate change.The premise for forest ecosystem carbon cycling is to relatively precisely estimate the carbon pools size of forest ecosystems,and getting a comprehensive understanding of forest carbon storage.Therefore,it is of great significance for the global carbon cycle and global climate change to study the forest biomass and carbon storage.This article take the forest resources of Baoji City as the research object,In order to study which,the remote sensing and the statistical methods were used.The forest vegetation data was extracted,and the estimate model of the biomass was constructed by remote data.And on this basis,the carbon density and the carbon storage were calculated by the relations between and among the biomass,the carbon density and the carbon storage.In the meantime,the reserves and distribution characteristics for the biomass,the carbon density and the carbon storage weres analyzed,then the results yielded as follow.(1)The total forest biomass is 84019179.2 tons,accounting for 17.09 percent of Shaanxi province,and 0.53 percent of the country.The arbor forest,sparse forest and shrubbery,is 81848835.1 tons,156411.8 tons and 156411.8 tons,respectively The forest biomass of the arbor forest is the largest,accounting for 97.42%of Baoji City.And the forest biomass were also large differences among each county biomass,with values ranging from 415112.2 tons to 29677972.09 tons.(2)The total carbon reserves were 42009589.65 tons,accounting for 17.48%of Shaanxi province,and 0.63%of the country.And there were difference in each district and county,one of the biggest of carbon reserves was Feng county(14838986.05 tons),the next were Taibai Longxian and Chencang,was 7730393.75 tons,6861882.62 tons,6861882.62 tons),respectively.The the urban area,Jintai was minimum(207556.13 tons and 190950.24 tons),other counties(Qianyang,Linyou,Meixian,Weibingqu,Qishan,Fengxiang)were smaller,values between 1021156.10 tons-1688465.27 tons.(3)The average carbon density was 38.32 t/hm2,accounting for 68.91%of the average carbon density in Shaanxi province(55.61 t/hm2),below the national average(42.82 t/hm2).The carbon density of Taibai was themaximum(>51 t/hm2),followed by Fengxian,Longxian,Qianyang(40-51 t/hm2),Chengcang was the lowest(<31 t/hm2).Amount according to the characters of forest carbon and carbon density was very discrepant and the distribution was different in Baoji City,and slightly below the average levels of the whole country and Shaanxi province,the forest carbon storage space is larger,the potentiality for CO2,by strengthening returning farmland to forest,and strengthening the protection of forest ecological afforestation engineering,science,tending,expand and management measures to improve the ability of baoji forest carbon sinks,increase forest carbon sequestration potential,make the characters of forest resources in regional ecological construction and play an important role in carbon sequestration in shaanxi province and even the whole country.
