Pinus massoniana was widely spread in the central subtropical humid region zone of China,it was aresource-rich and fast growing native conifer species,playing an important role in the forest production.There are lots of achievements about Pinus massoniana forest's biomass,carbon stored,and its assessmentmode,but in China,the northern edge of South Asia's tropical,Masson pine forest's biomass and carbonreserve was still blank. So,we used ecological theory,determining some basical parameters,such as biomassof mixed and pure Pinus massoniana forest,carbon content rate in different organs,After that we Estimatedits biomass and carbon reserve,and researched the spatial distribution and influencing factors of Pinusmassoniana forest's biomass and carbon stocks.In ordered to research mixed and pure Pinus massoniana forest's biomass and its productivitydistribution pattern. Harvesting and measuring the average sample trees collected from the polts,combinedwith establishing relative growth equation of each component was used. The results showed that totalbiomass of Mixed and Pure Pinus massoniana forest were252.8476tīš'hm-2and224.2774tīš'hm-2,and theproportion of aerial parts were82.28%and80.37%respectively. In the perspective of different stand types,total biomass between Mixed Pinus massoniana forest and Pure Pinus massoniana forest was small. Pinusmassoniana dominated in the mixed Pinus massoniana,Lauraceae and Fagaceae forest. From the differentcomponents of arbor layer's biomass in mixed Pinus massoniana forest,dry wood biomass was the largestone,145.32tīš'hm-2,and biomass of other components in decreasing order was stem (145.32tīš'hm-2> root(43.52tīš'hm-2> branch(30.05tīš'hm-2> bark(16.62tīš'hm-2> leaf(10.03tīš'hm-2,while for pure Pinus massoniana forest,biomass of different components distribution pattern appeared asfollows: stem (136.83tīš'hm-2> root (43.91tīš'hm-2> branches (22.48tīš'hm-2> bark(17.35tīš'hm-2> leaf(3.12tīš'hm-2. The difference of biomass spatial structure between pure Pinus massonianaforest and mixed Pinus massoniana forest were more obvious,with63.05%of the total biomass distributedin the height between0m and10m,and52.29%for the pure Pinus massoniana forest. The mixed Pinusmassoniana forest had branches and leaves in the height of23m,while the pure Pinus massoniana forestemerged on the1216m. Roots biomass of Lauraceae and Fagaceae mainly distributed in040cm soillayer,and fews of root biomass were distributed bellow the60cm deepth soil layer,while Roots biomass ofPinus massoniana forest were focused on the soil surface(020cm)and below60cm soil layer.roots ofLauraceae and Fagaceae,Pinus massoniana has a complementary relationship in the underground. The netprimary productivity of mixed Pinus massoniana forest and pure Pinus massoniana forest were22.4482tīš'hm-2¡a-1and8.7928tīš'hm-2¡a-1. The coarse roots biomass of different trees in Pinus massoniana forest were16to155times than the fine roots, but the net primary productivity,coarse roots was only0.40to3.95timesof fine roots.The average carbon rate of arbor layer,shrub and grass layer,litter layer to the mixed Pinusmassoniana,Lauraceae and Fagaceae stand in Niumulin nature reserv were0.4393,0.5036,0.4156respectively,while in the pure Pinus massoniana stand,they were0.4593,0.5034,0.3872respectively. Thecarbon density and stocks of mixed Pinus massoniana forest's arbor layer were111.0884tīš'hm-2,18655.5421t,2.6588tīš'hm-2,446.5035t for shrub and herb layer,and0.3560tīš'hm-2,59.7846t for litterlayer,while the value of carbon density and stocks to pure Pinus massoniana forest's arbor layer,shruband herb layer,litter layer were104.2425tīš'hm-2,14865.0472t,0.2074tīš'hm-2,29.5754t,0.0679tīš'hm-2,9.6826t respectively. The vegetation layer's total carbon reserves of Mixed Pinus massoniana forestand pure Pinus massoniana forest were66916.9442,52140.8617t respectively.Comparing to China and other countries around the world,the vegetation layer's average carbon storagedensity of Niumulin Nature Reserve was higher. Niumulin Nature Reserve was a carbon sink,and its carbonstocks of Pinus massoniana forest maybe influenced by slope,nitrogen deposition,soil nutrients,land-use change and forest management measures after we qualitative analysis the carbon stocks's dynamiccharacteristics.These results provided basic data to the research of regional scale forest ecosystem carbon sinks andcarbon cycle, they also provided a theoretical basis for evaluating the function of China south coniferousforest carbon sink,formulating regional forest ecosystem carbon management countermeasures and theChinese Government to participate in the World carbon sinks trade negotiations.
