Characteristics Of 'Hongrou Huyou',a Grafted Chimera In Citrus Unshiu And Citrus Changshan-huyou

‘Hongrou Huyou'(Citrus unshiu+ Citrus changshan-huyou)is a mutation which is found during the investigation of citrus bud sport.Its fruit size,shape,seed amount and pericarp are similar to Citrus changshan-huyou,and its pulp color is similar to Citrus unshiu.In our study,we choose ‘Guoqing No.1' satsu ma mandarin and Citrus changshan-huyou as experiment meterials,carrying o ut a series of experiments around the morphological features and physicalsign s of‘Hongrou Huyou'.The contents of carotenoids in pulp,epicarp and segment wal l of ‘Hongrou Huyou',anditsdonars were analyzed byHPLC.Meanwhile,GC-MS w as used to analyze the primary biomass of pericarp and pulp of those above-mention ed materials.The results showed that there were some differences in fruit's morphol ogy and physiological indexes and aroma substances of primary fruit between ‘Hon grou Huyou'anditsdonars.According to the contents and types of carotenoids,the m ain carotenoid of‘Hongrou Huyou'is ?-cryptoxanthin,similar to‘Guoqing No.1' sa tsuma mandarin.The mian carotenoid in Citrus changshan-huyou islutein and viol axanthin.The main carotenoid capsuled in 'Hongrou Huyou's segment wall are Phy tofluenes,consistent withCitrus changshan-huyou,compared to‘Guoqing No.1' sat suma mandarin capsuled phytoene and violaxanthin.The main components in‘Ho ngrou Huyou'pericarp are dominatedby violaxanthin,phytoene and phytofluene,which are in accordance with the primary pigments in‘Guoqing No.1'Citrus u nshiu and Citrus changshan-huyou pericarps.In terms of contents,however,th e carotenoids in‘Hongrou Huyou'are more similar toCitrus changshan-huyou.T he primary substancein pericarp of the‘Hongrou Huyou'is almost the same as that of the Citrus changshan-huyou and is similer to the ‘Guoqing No.1' sats uma mandarin.Meanwhile,‘Hongrou Huyou'has a specific substance in pericarp such as 1,4-Butanediol,Tocopherol,5-Methyluridine,Butanedioic acid,2-Mann obiose.The volatiles in pericarp and pulp were different from those of two pa rents'.We found that Heneicosane,(E)-9-Octadecenoic acid,Nonanoic acid,4,6-di methyl-Dodecane,2,4-Dimethyldodecane,Osthole are the unique components which only existed in pericarp of the‘Hongrou Huyou',that 1-Hexadecanol,?-Cy clohexane,?-Elemene,Germacrene D are the unique components which only exi sted in pulp of the‘Hongrou Huyou'.Through the combinationsof these morph ological indicators and the carotenoids in pericarp,sarcocarp and segment wal l,we can estimate that ‘Hongrou Huyou' is a grafted chimera that consists of L1 cell layer from Citrus unshiuand L2/L3 cell layer from Citrus changshan-h uyou.According to the types and content of volatiles in peel and pulp,two gr afting parent have the interaction in ‘Hongrou huyou'.
