A total of 168 plots were set up in six national nature reserves in eastern Inner Mongolia to investigate plant communities.First,the species composition of the region was analyzed.Mantel test and redundancy analysis were applied to study the ? diversity and the formation mechanism of plant communities in this area as well as to answer these questions at the community level.The main conclusions were as follows:1.In this survey,a total of 640 vascular plants were recorded,belonging to 278 genera of 75 families,which can be divided into 9 types of distribution.Based on the species composition and flora of a protected area,the species in the region mainly belonging to Compositae,Rosaceae,and Gramineae family;the flora was dominated by the world distribution,followed by the pantropical distribution.2.Mantel test results show that ? diversities of the six nature reserves were correlated with environmental distance.Except Baiyinaobao reserve,the ? diversity of other five reserves were related with space distance.Excluding the impact of environment distance,Partial Mantel test results showed that spatial distance related with ? diversity in Saihanwula nature reserve,Gogostai Hanwula reserve and Heilihe reserve.? diversity.Excluding the impact of spatial distance,environmental distance related with ? diversity in Baiyinaobao reserve,Daheishan reserve,Heilihe reserve and Saihanwula reserve.3.The results of RDA analysis showed that six environmental factors had different effects on the ? diversity.The results revealed that the canopy density,succession stage and slope direction had the most extensive effects on the ? diversity of the protected areas.In addition to Daheishan nature reserve,the canopy density and succession stage of the community were related to the ? diversity of the other five nature reserves.The ? diversities were also influenced by slope factor on 5 reserves except Daqinggou reserve.4.Partial RDA analysis showed that the interpretation of environmental factors on ? diversities of six reserves were Baiyinaobao 29.42%,Gogostai Hanwula 37.47,Daqinggou 31.52%,Heilihe 34.53%,Saihanwula 15.79%,Daheishan 38.98%.The interpretation of spacial factors on ? diversities of six reserves were Baiyinaobao 4.49%,Gogostai Hanwula 5.36%,Daqinggou,2.98%,Heilihe 2.97%,Saihanwula 2.23%,Daheishan 7.46%.The results showed that the niche theory and the neutral theory could explain the community construction of the six reserves,but the niche theory was more suitable.
