Nose-associated lymphoid tissue(NALT)is an important component of mucosal immune system,IgA~+and IgG~+cells are the key effector cells in this process.To definite the distribution characteristics and compositions of NALT,and the distribution characteristics of major effector cells in nasal cavity,20 healthy adult rabbits were studied in this paper.The nasal cavitys of adult rabbits are divided into five(Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ、ⅣandⅤ)sections according to the hard palate folds and tooth characteristics.The distribution characteristics of NALT,IgA~+andIgG~+cellsineachfivesectionsarestudiedbygross anatomy,histochemistry,immunohistochemistryandmicro-imageanalysis,statistical methods.The results indicate that,firstly,the turbinates of the rabbit include nasoturbinate,maxilloturbinates and ethmoid turbinate orderly;Secondly,in the first block of the nasal cavity,the epithelium are mainly stratified squamous epithelium and transitional epithelium;The second block are mainly transitional epithelium and pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium;The third block are mainly pseudolamellar columnar epithelium;the fourth block are mainly pseudolamellar columnar epithelium and olfactory epithelium;the fifth block is mainly olfactory epithelium;A large number of goblet cells distribute in the pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium.Secondly,at the lamina propria of ventromedial side of the ventral nasal meatus inⅢandⅣblocks,there are about 1.5~2.0cm aggregated lymphatic follicles covered single-layer ramified intraepithelial with a lot of lymphocytes and plasmocytes.Fourthly,the distribution of IgA~+cells ofⅢ,ⅣandⅤsections are significantly more than that inⅠandⅡsections(P(27)0.05),and in maxilloturbinate,nasal septum,and ethmoid turbinate are significantly more than in the nasoturbinate and lateral wall(P(27)0.05).Fifthly,the distribution of IgG~+cells in theⅢ,ⅣandⅤsections are also significantly more than inⅠandⅡsections(P(27)0.05).And similar to IgA~+cells’,IgG~+cells in maxilloturbinate,nasal septum,and ethmoid turbinate are more than in the nasoturbinate and lateral wall.The results show that superficial area were enlarged by kinds of curly turbinates of nasal cavity,theⅡ?Ⅳsections of nasal septum mainly distributed goblet cells,were critical sites to adhere dusty,antigens,as well as SIgA and IgG.The main part of NALT consist of the aggregated lymphatic follicles,isolated lymphoid follicles and diffuse lymphoid tissue,and they mainly distributes inⅢ-Ⅴsections of mucosal lamina propria.And the aggregated lymphatic follicles with bilateral strips mostly at ventromedial side of the ventral nasal meatus inⅢandⅣsections,They are the core parts to nasal mucosal immune induction and response.IgA~+cells and IgG~+cells had similar distribution characteristics,and mainly dispersion in the nasal cavity of the maxilloturbinates,septum and ethmoid turbinate.It will facilitate the formation of a complete protective barrier in these areas.This provide a theoretical basis for further study of the function of NALT in the rabbit nasal cavity and intranasal immunization,It also provides important references for other animal studies on NALT.
