This paper is based on National Natural Science Foundation of People's Republic of China and Scientific and Technological Major Project, Tianjin. Dose calculation algorithm, dose display method, dose optimization and some other key technologies are researched. 3D conformal dose planning method is proposed. A treatment planning system is developed to perform three-dimensional dose planning for brachytherapy. The accuracy of the seed model is verified by dose distribution experiments and Monte Carlo simulation. The main research contents and achieved results are described as follows:Firstly, the dose rate is calculated by TG-43 line source dose calculation model and isodose line of single seed is drawn. The dose rate of multiple seed in the space is calculated by superposition algorithm. The absorbed dose is deduced by the law of radioactive decay.Secondly, 3D conformal dose planning method is proposed for brachytherapy. With dose planning optimization, excessively high dose rate and dose dead zones can be avoided. The Image Guided Brachytherapy system is developed based on the above. The dose-volume histogram algorithm is improved to increase the accuracy of dose-volume histogram.Finally, phantoms for I-125 seeds are designed to set up the dose distribution experimental platform. Experiments for single seed and multiple seeds are performed. The dose calculation accuracy of treatment planning systems is verified by compare the experiment results, Monte Carlo simulation results and results exported by treatment planning system.
