The Localizion Revision And Evaluation On Caring Ability Inventory

BackgroundWith the advent of modern medicine,changing concepts of health and the development of the society,people have paid more and more attention to humanistic care.Humanistic care service has become an important symbol of modern civilization and modern medical hospital.To improve the nurses' humanistic care ability has become an important part of the development of China's modern nursing profession.The Caring Ability Inventory(CAI)is the most widely used in China,and the Chinese version was revised by a number of scholars.But the definition of dimension was not unified,the Chinese semantic items didn't match its application.The validity verification needs to be further improved.ObjectiveBasing on literature review and Delphi,we revised a Chinese version of Caring Ability Inventory to make sure the evaluation fits for our cultural.In order to provide a standardized measurement tool for the evaluation the nurses' humanistic caring ability.Methods1.Expert discussion Analysis the relevant literature in database from domestic and overseas to know the nursing humanistic theory and assessment tools to determine the research direction.Composed the experts discussion group of psychology,nursing and English.The experts compared and integrate 3 Chinese versions to the original,summed up the Chinese version of Caring Ability Inventory draft.2.Delphi We invited 18 nursing experts who met the inclusion criteria take part in two rounds expert consultation.The contents included definition the dimensions and concepts,selection the entry dimensions,evaluation the overall scale.The consultation table items take” agree” and” not agree” to 1 point and 0.5 point to integrate the experts opinions.Finally we formed the Chinese version of Caring Ability Inventory.3.Preliminary survey Using the convenience sampling method,selectted 300 nurses who fitted the inclusion criteria from 2 tertiary hospitals in Henan Province.Using the critical ratio value,Pearson correlation analysis,exploratory factor analysis,and the selection of the entry of the screening scale.4.Formal survey Using the convenience sampling method,selectted 400 nurses who fitted the inclusion criteria from 3 tertiary hospitals in Henan Province.By the Confirmatory factor analysis,internal consistency analysis,test-retest reliability analysis and other methods to analysis the care ability Inventory Chinese Revision validity and reliability.Results1.Dephi Through the literature research and expert discussion,we revised and integrated the Chinese version of Caring Ability Inventory.The items of V9?V17?V18 has adjusted their dimensions,and the items of V13?V15?V20?V23?V24?V30?V32 has embellished according to the experts' opinions.So the items' agreement ratio was reached more than 80% and the CV was reached more than 25%.2.Item Analysis Except the item V10,the critical ratio value method and Pearson correlation analysis showed that the rest items of critical ratio value between 3.245 to 11.255,P<0.05;The correlation coefficient of each item was 0.314 ~ 0.630,P<0.05.3.Validity Test(1)Content Validity According to the expert discussion and Delphi about 2 round.The scale of content and each item are representative from the angle of the logic analyze.We calculated the content validity index(CVI)was 0.947,so this scale with good content validity to be applies.(2)Construct validity The Exploratory factor analysis limited extraction of 3 common factors,the cumulative variance contribution rate of 41.952%.We deleted the items of V2?V19?V26,retained 33 items,the factor loading of items is 0.401~0.770.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that ?2/df=3.022?P<0.001?NFI=0.830?CFI=0.858?GFI=0.891?IFI=0.847?RMSEA=0.073.This Chinese version of Caring Ability Inventory has acceptable meet the measurement demands.4.Reliability Test CAI Chinese revision reliability analysis showed: the total scale of Cronbach s' alpha coefficient is 0.871,the dimensions of Cronbach s' alpha coefficient of 0.801 ~ 0.877.Scale total test-retest reliability is 0.786,the test-retest reliability of each dimension is 0.749~0.813,which indicates that the scale has good reliability.ConclusionThe research completed the revising of the Chinese version of caring ability inventory,which has 3 dimensions and 33 items.This revised scale has a good reliability and validity,which meet the requirement of measurement.It could be applicated to evaluate the nurses' humanistic caring ability scientifically and effectively to provide a reference in Chinese nurse.
