Objective: Knee osteoarthritis(KOA)is a degenerative disease,easily lead to physical disability in older adults[1-2];with involving the articular cartilage,subchondral bone,synovial tissues and so on.Unilateral or bilateral knee joint pain,swelling,stiffness,limited movement,X-ray manifestations of different degrees of knee arthritis,etc,is the typical clinical manifestations.The etiology of osteoarthritis include genetic predisposition,nutrition supply,abnormal mechanical load and trauma,that is very complex[3-4].The epidemiological survey showed that women were more likely to suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee than men[5-6].For its high incidence rate and high disability rate,seriously effects the life quality of the patients.However,at present there is no effective treatment to treat this condition.Electro acupuncture treatment as a traditional Chinese medicine technology,has been widely used in the treatment of knee joint osteoarthritis.This research aims to study electroacupuncture treatment on KOA clinical curative effect and influence of the serum levels CXCL10 and IL-1?with KOA of patients,to enrich the theoretical study in clinical acupuncture analgesia,and improve the clinical curative effect of the treatment of chronic pain.Methods: Recruited 39 KOA patients from Wuhan city hospital rehabilitation department inpatient and outpatient,were in strict accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria to collect.These patients were treated with electro acupuncture therapy.The choose of acupoint were the eye of the knee,calf nose,Xue hai,Liang qiu,Then in the eye of the knee and calf nose,Xue hai and Liang qiu connected electro acupuncture,with continuous wave,frequency of 2Hz,pulse width 0.5ms,current intensity for the maximum intensity of the patients tolerated the treatment,after 30 minutes took the needle.They would be treated with EA once every day,6 times as a course of treatment,totally treated with 2 courses,after 1 courses of treatment rest 1 day.Before treatment respectively,in(treatment 6 times),after(after treatment for 12 times)detection in patients with osteoarthritis index score(WOMAC),pain score(Numerical Rating,Scale,NRS)and detect the patients' serum level of CXCL10,IL-1? before and after the treatment.By using the statistical analysis Spass11.5;Analysis and comparion of WOMAC,NRS score and patients' plasma levels of CXCL10,IL-1? before and after treatment;to explore the mechanism of electroacupuncture analgesia in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.Resulets:(1)WOMAC,NRS scores were decreased by comparing before,in and after the EA treatment,there were differences(P<0.05);(2)The plasma concentration of CXCL10 were increased after EA treatment,We found that there were differences(P<0.05);(3)The plasma concentration of IL-1? were decreased after EA treatment,We found that there were differences(P<0.05);Conclusion:(1)Electric acupuncture treatment could effectively improve the CXCL10 levels in serum of patients with KOA,indicated one of the mechanisms of acupuncture treatment of KOA may through regulating the level of serum CXCL10 to produce opioid analgesia to achieve.(2)Electric acupuncture treatment could effectively reduce the IL-1?levels in serum of patients with KOA,suggested one of the mechanisms of acupuncture treatment of KOA may through regulating the level of serum IL-1?,reduce proinflammatory cytokines in this way to achieve.(3)Electric acupuncture could effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of the KOA patients,especially in analgesia;could significantly improve the life quality of patients,with statistical significance.
