Objective To discuss the relationship of six-minute walk test(6MWT)with pulmonary function(PFT)and compare the six-minute walk distance(6MWD)each other in patients with chronic airway diseases including chronic pulmonary disease(COPD),bronchial asthma, bronchial asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap syndrome(ACOS),and chronic bronchitis. This study's aim is to evaluate the value of six-minute walk test in patients with chronic airway diseases.Methods:1.This study was involved by the patients with chronic airway diseases admitted to the Department of Respiratory Medicine of xx from April 2015 to January 2016,which included COPD(group A),bronchial asthma(group B),ACOS(group C),and chronic bronchitis(group D).2.Both 6MWT and PFT were measured in patients of four groups. We studied the correlation of them. The pulmonary function tests were operated by the same experienced professional.3.All participants were informed and consented to this experimental study.4.The measurement data were expressed by M ± SD.The results were statistically analyzed and calculated Pearson's coefficient:the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Results:1.This study consisted of 153 patients including 42 of group A(38 men,14 women),41 of group B(30 men,11 women),15 of group C(31 men,4 women)and 45 of group D(33 men,12 women). The average age was 62.73±7.97(46-82),with BMI of24.25±3.58(14.69-32.89)in group A.The average age was 60.15±12.68(30-90),with BMI of 25.78±4.08(19.03-40.63)in group B.The average age was62.27±10.11(44-79),with BMI of 24.17±3.03(18.29-30.35)in group C.The averageage was 62.02±11.44(34-88),with BMI 25.71±2.75(21.03-31.44)in group D.There was no statistical difference of age,sex and body mass index(BMI)in four groups(p > 0.05).2.Six minutes walking distance(6MWD)was 426.97±80.32 m,451.02±73.93 m,377.90±113.14 m,and 516.70± 72.74 m in group A,group B,group C,and group D respectively. The results of 6MWD in all four groups were obviously different each other(p< 0.05)in addition to group A and group B.3.6MWD was positively correlated with FEV1?FVC?FEV1%(r=0.576,0.613,0751 respectively,p< 0.05)in group A.6MWD was positively correlated with FEV1 ?FVC(r = 0.548,0.571 respectively,p< 0.05)in group B.There was no correlation between 6MWD and FEV1,FVC,FEV1%,FEV1/FVC.6MWD was positively correlated with FEV1?FVC(r=0.481,0.402 respectively,p< 0.05)in group D.4.There were 32 cases in group A,26 cases in group B,11 cases in group C,30 cases in group D having re-examined six minutes walking test at discharge. There were6 MWD of 441.28±83.53 m and 464.80±77.06 m in group A,467.19±95.54 m and524.17±95.75 m in group B,351.45±164.53 m and 463.41±73.76 m in group C,507.85±69.08 m and 531.73±76.60 m in group D at admission and discharge respectively. The differences were statistically significant(p< 0.05).Conclusion:1.6MWD and lung function index(FEV1,FEV1,FEV1 / FVC %)in patients with chronic bronchitis were higher than that of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma and bronchial asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap syndrome patients.6MWD in patients with bronchial asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap syndrome is shorter than that of chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma.6MWT plays a important role in evaluating the condition and overall function in patients with chronic airway disease situation.2.There exists good correlation between 6MWT and FEV1?FVC?FEV1% in patients with COPD.So it can be used as a daily examination of PFT.3.6MWD at discharge is obviously higher than it on admission in patients of four groups.Therefore,6 MWD can guide the treatment and evaluate the efficacy of chronic airway diseases.
