The number of CD4+T lymphocyte providing important clinical testing information for HIV diagnosis and treatment, is an important index of AIDS disease clinical detection. The traditional cell counting technologies have the shortcomings of high cost and high operation requirements. Furthermore, the traditional cell counting instruments are mainly distributed in large hospitals and laboratories. So, it is significant to research and design an innovative CD4 cell counting method and system to make it low cost, convenient, quick and simple. With the advantage of small volume, fully functional and high integration, the microfluidic chip can make medical detection automation and intellectualization. Thus the CD4 cell counting method and system based on microfluidic chip is increasingly concerned by researchers at home and abroad. This paper proposes a new CD4 cell counting method and system which based on microfluidic chip. The system can not only complete cell capturing, cell separation and releasing automatically in the process of CD4 cell counting, but also can achieve the test of CD4 cell counting.Firstly, this paper briefly introduced the related knowledge and principle of CD4 cell counting and the significance of the research on CD4 cell counting system based on microfluidic chip. And then, it put forward the overall architecture of the system by analyzing the key issues of the system. Among them, on the basis of the principle that the magnet beats can capture CD4 cells, the microfluidic chip has the function of cell capturing, separation, releasing, and the lateral flow reaction by designing the storage module. It designed a detecting system to make the microfluidic chip detect automated. The operation subsystem is used as the human-computer interface. While the control subsystem controls the drive unit to help the microfluidic chip achieving the CD4 cell counting. Finally, the system can get the fluorescence signal by scanning the lateral flow strip. And it can get the number of CD4 cell by calculating according to the fluorescence signal. At last, the experiment shows that the CD4 cell counting method in this paper is feasible.
