Objective By investigating the nutritional status and growth conditions of the rural compulsory education students who come from "rural compulsory education students nutrition improvement program"(hereinafter referred to"nutrition improvement plan") of the Hunan Province, compare the differences between the rural compulsory education students' height, weight in 2015(after"nutrition improvement program" example 3 years) and in 2012(before the"nutrition improvement program" implementation) of Hunan Province and compare the values from Hunan Province and the nationwide values in 2014.Compare the indicator trends of malnutrition, overweight and anemia rate before and after the implementation of the "nutrition improvement program"and valuate the effect of Hunan Province "nutrition improvement program”.Analyze the problems of data sources and quality control and suggest improvements for the intervention and data collection. Provide a scientific basis for future targeted improved nutrition education and more effective nutrition interventions. Methods Collect the Monitoring data of 37 pilot counties in Hunan Province which come from “ the nutrition and health status monitoring and evaluation system of rural compulsory education students nutrition improvement program". The data includes height, weight, hemoglobin and other nutrition-related monitoring indicators of the compulsory school students from 1572 schools in 37 pilot counties(including three key monitoring counties) during 2012 to 2015.This article includes a sample of58096 in 2012, 83217 in 2013, 82579 in 2014, and 65321 in 2015. SPSS18.0statistical software was used for data processing and analysis. Descriptive analysis was performed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, composition ratio and other related indicators. Analysis on Current nutritional status, evaluation on the implementation effect and trend of the "nutrition improvement program" were performed by ?2 test. The growth and development Comparison between rural compulsory education students in poor areas in Hunan Province with the national level were performed by single-sample t-test and the test level ? = 0.05.Results 1.The implementation of "nutrition improvement plan", the level the height and weight of the compulsory education students has increased, but compared with the national level 2014, boys and girls of the height and weight of poverty areas in Hunan Province rural compulsory education students of all ages are generally lower than the average level of the national rural compulsory education students, the difference has statisticalsignificance(P<0.05). 2. "Nutrition improvement plan" the implementation of,2012 nutrition normal number of 77.19%, the number of malnutrition accounted for 13.96%, overweight obesity rate was 8.85% and the rate of different age and gender differences in the rate of malnutrition, overweight and obese there were significant difference(P< 0.05), anemia was 24.16%,the differences between different age and different sex anemia rate of no statistical significance(P>0.05). 3. "Nutrition improvement plan" the implementation of 3 years, namely 2015 year normal nutrition the number accounted for 71.40% and malnutrition people 16.33%, overweight and obesity rate of 12.27% and the rate of different age and gender differences in the rate of malnutrition, overweight and obese there were significant difference(P<0.05); anemia rate was 9.11%, the differences between different age and different sex anemia rate of no statistical significance(P>0.05). 4 "nutrition improvement plan" the implementation of 3 years, malnutrition in growth retardation rate was decreasing year by year, and mild weight loss and moderate wasting rate increasing year by year, the difference was statistically significant in different age of each school year(P<0.05), low in growth retardation and a higher detection rate of overweight and weight loss; the prevalence of obesity is increasing trend(P<0.05), and the age between overweight and obesity have significant difference(P<0.05), showed a gradual downward trend, low grade students in prevalence of overweight and obesity is higher than senior students; 2012 year(before intervention)compared to the 2013 year, 2014 of school-age children with anemia the school year and the 2015 year rate was decreased significantly(P<0.05), the difference was statistically significant among different age groups and the anemia rate(P<0.05).Conclusions 1.The growth and development of Hunan rural compulsory education students in poor areas are less desirable, even if the implementation of the "Nutrition Improvement Program", the average level is still below the national average for rural students. 2.The phenomenon of malnutrition, overweight and obesity in Hunan rural compulsory education students of poor areas were exist Simultaneously. The implementation of the"Nutrition Improvement Plan" failed to make the rate of malnutrition improve greatly. 3.The implementation of "Nutrition Improvement Program" is difficult to obtain significant result in the short term. It is in line with the general rules of human nutritional change. Summarizing the problem in monitoring process can provide powerful data support for the future "nutrition improvement plan” which has a certain value.
