Objective: To study the expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK as two kinds of factor in the cancerous tissue of patients with triple negative breast cancer?TNBC?and non-triple negative breast cancer?n TNBC?,to analyze the correlation between the two factors and clinicopathologic features of patients with TNBC and the correlation between the expressions of both factors, and to further discuss whether the preceding factors are related to the postoperative relapse of TNBC patients. Methods:30 cases of patient who were pathologically diagnosed as TNBC and admitted in the department of general surgery of Shaoyang Central Hospital fro- m Jan,2010 to Dec,2012 were selected, and simultaneously,30 cases of n TNBC patient who had no statistical difference in terms of clinicopathologic features in the corresponding period were selected, the expression of ERK and CD44+/CD24-/LOW in the pathological specimen of the breast cancer tissue of both groups had been detected with the method of immunohistochemistry staining. At the same time, the expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK in the pathological specimen of the breast cancer tissue of both groups and the relationship between the two factors and the clinicopathologic features of TNBC patients had been analyzed with chi-square test; The Pearson method was used to analyze whether the expressions of both factors in the TNBC tissue were correlated with each other; The Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used to analyze whether the two factors were related to the postoperative relapse of TNBC patients. Results: The result of immunohistochemistry showed that: the expression rate of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK in the TNBC tissue was significantly higher than that in the n TNBC tissue?P<0.05?;There is no statistical difference in expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK in the TNBC tissue between the two groups in terms of onset age, tumor size, clinical stages and histopathological differentiation degree except the armpit lymphatic metastasis; The expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK in the TNBC tissue showed a positive correlation?r=0.338,P<0.05?;The relapse-free survival rate of TNBC patients during 3 years after operation was significantly lower than that of n TNBC patients?P<0.05?;The relapse-free survival rate of TNBC patients who had a positive expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK during 3 years after operation was significantly lower than that of the ones had a negative expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK?P<0.05?.Conclusion: 1) The positive expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW in TNBC tissue was significantly higher than that in n TNBC cancerous tissue, its expression was significantly correlated with armpit lymphatic metastasis?P<0.05?.2)The positive expression of ERK in TNBC tissue was significantly higher than that in n TNBC cancerous tissue, its expression was significantly correlated with armpit lymphatic metastasis?P<0.05?.3)In the TNBC cancerous tissue, the expression of CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK were positively correlated with each other, CD44+/CD24-/LOW may regulate the transcription and expression of downstream cancer gene through ERK.4) CD44+/CD24-/LOW and ERK may be considered as an indicator for the postoperative relapse of TNBC patients.
