With the rapid development of computer science and medicine, computer assisted surgical navigation has been a hot issue of modern surgery. In recent years, it has become the first killer of human health along with the enhancement of people suffering from cardiovascular disease and the increasing of mortality cardiovascular implants has a good therapeutic effect as a new treatment currently. But traditional cardiovascular implants surgery dependent on the guidance of X-ray, which has an adverse effect for doctors and patients. In addition, X-ray imaging can only provide two-dimensional image information instead of providing a visual guide for cardiovascular implants surgery. Therefore, it is very important to find an effective and harmless way to guide the operation of cardiovascular implants. After consulting the correlation data and the comprehensive consideration, we finally decided to use the electromagnetic positioning of the surgical navigation to guide the operation. The specific studies are as follows:(1) According to the characteristics of cardiovascular implants, a computer assisted surgical navigation system was designed and implemented by referring to the other existing navigation systems. Through the comparison of several different kinds of stereo positioning technology, the Aurora electromagnetic positioning equipment produced by NDI company was selected. System used medical visualization platform VTK and surgical navigation system application software development package Atamai. In the system architecture, we learned some related experiment from the OSI seven-layer model, which used the multi architecture technology to makes the hierarchy system clearly.(2) This paper studied on the technologies of navigation system. In the respect of 3D visualization, we used volume rendering, and mainly studied the spatial registration technology. Spatial registration technology is the key of the surgical navigation system, which determines the accuracy of surgical navigation system and the operation directly. After considering the effectiveness, stability and computational complexity, and the actual project development cycle, cost and other factors, we selected the spatial registration algorithm based on the point of registration, and test the registration accuracy of this navigation system.Finally we have researched the selection of registration feature points.(3) In order to verify the feasibility and accuracy of navigation system, we designed a model experiment. In our previous work, the hardware of the experiment was designed that it is critical for this experiment. For example, it is included the design of model and catheter, the correct welding of sensor, and the communication connection between catheter and navigation system, which is one of the most important parts for the model experiment. Then we measured the experimental error, and the accuracy of the navigation system was obtained by analysing and discussing the experimental error.
