Purpose: To explore the change of Mean Platelet Volume(MPV) in obs tructive sleep apnoea syndrome without any overt cardiac disease or Diabetes subject, and to evaluate the relevance between MPV and Nocturnal hypoxia in obstructive sleep apnoea. Methods: The 90 subjects admitted to the sleep clinic with symptoms of nocturnal snoring and/or excessive daytime sleepiness were enrolled in the study. All subjects underwent polysomnographic evaluation in department of Respiratory of Zhong Shan hospital Xiamen university. Study subjects were categorized into three groups according to the apnea – hypopnea index(AHI); control group(AHI< 5/h, 14cases), mild- moderate OSAHS group(5/h≤ AHI ≤ 30/h, 35cases),severe OSAHS group(AHI> 30/h, 41cases). Blood samples were drawn from the antecubital vein after a fasting period of 8-12 h, MPV was measured within 30 min. Appropriate statistical methods were used to compare the difference between each OSAHS groups and control group.and MPV was conducted correlation analysis with BMI,age, T-Sp O2<90%,AHI, LSa O2.Results: Compared with the non-OSAHS group(control group) and, Age,Gender did not show significant difference(P>0.05). And no difference was found in terms of smoking patient ratios between the groups. BMI in severe OSAHS group were significantly higher than control group and mild- moderate OSAHS group.and mild- moderate OSAHS group also significantly higher than control group. severe OSAHS group has a significantly higher AHI,significantly lower LSa O2 and longest T-Sp O2<90% than control group and mild- moderate OSAHS group. MPV and T-Sp O2<90%(r=0.27)were significantly positive correlation(P<0.05).Conclusions: MPV could not be correlated with severity of OSAS in without Comorbidities patients.but MPV is correlated with T-Sp O2<90%。MPV is predictive factor for Nocturnal hypoxia in obstructive sleep apnoea.
