Study On Advantages Of Combined Use Of Chinese And Western Medicine For The Treatment Of Chronic Heart Failure With Atrial Fibrilation

Objective:Observation of the clinical efficacy on combined use of Shensongyangxin capsule with metoprolol for the treatment of chronic heart failure with atrial fibrilation.Methods:80 patients were selected between January 2014 to November 2015 admitted in cardiovascular department of Yanbian Chinese Medicine Hospital fulfilling the diagnostics criteria of chronic heart failure with atrial fibrilation. Control group and therapeutic group with 40 patients in each is divided according to the chronological order of admission to hospital. Before the commencement of treatment the grading of heart failure is between grade-? and grade?. Therapeutic group was given conventional western medicine treatment, cardiotonics and diuretics, vasular dilation, rhythm conrol along with Shensongyangxin capsule (Beijing yiling pharmaceutical co. ltd,0.4g×36 Capsule), tid with 4 capsule each time, metoprolol 23.7mg(metoprolol succinate:47.5mg×7tabs)once a day, for 4 weeks as a course of treatment. Control group is treated with conventional western medicine treatment along with metoprolol 23.7mg(metoprolol succinate:47.5mg×7tabs) half tab once a day, for 4 weeks as a course of treatment. In this study course of treatment is 4 weeks. Comparative analysis on score of TCM syndrome and cardinal symptoms, cardiac function(LVEF, BNP,6-minute walk test, NYHA,cardiac funtional grading),pretherapeutic and posttherapeutic heartrate(at rest) and observation of hepatorenal funtion safety indexes is done after 4 weeks of treatment.Results:1. Change in score of TCM syndrome and cardinal symptoms:There was a significant difference in decrease in total score of TCM syndrome and cardinal symptoms (P?0.05) before and after the treatment, therapeutic group shows greater extent of dercease in the total score.2. Cardiac function:Control group and therapeutic group shows LVEF, BNP,6-minute walk test, NYHA, cardiac funtional grading shows comparative improvement before treatment(P?0.05). Therapeutic group is superior to control group (P?0.05).3. Heart rate at rest:There is realtive decrease in heart rate at rest therapeutic group and control group after the treatment (P?0.05).Conclusion:In the treatment of chronic heart failure with atrial fibrillation, shendongyangxin capsule combined with metoprolol shows significant efficacy in improving TCM syndrome and cardinal symptoms total score and cardiac funtion, decrease in heart rate, decrease in onset of atrial f ibrilation. Moreover it is superior to metoprolol treatment of the control group in improving comprehensive clinical efficacy. There is no hepatorenal abnormality in both therapeutic and control group before and after medication, suggesting this drug had no significant side effects and adverse reactions.
