Objective:To study spinal Ewing's Sarcoma(ES)imaging features?Immuno-histochemistry findings and prognosis, and make a comparison with extra-spinal counterparts,to improve the understanding and diagnosis of the disease.Methods:10 cases with spinal ES proved by operation or biopsy pathology were retrospectively studied. The imaging features?Immuno-histochemistry findings and clinical prognosis were analyzed and made a comparison with 16 cases with extra-spinal bone ES.Results:Spinal ES showed predominantly vertebral osteolyticdestruction, invasion to the epiduralspace, and with a huge paravertebral soft tissue mass.It is an interesting appearance that some residual ossous septa visible in 6 tumors with hypointense signalintensity on T2WI and TlWIscans.4 cases with a dotlike or linear signal of short T1 and long T2 charaters were revealed(40%).With administration of contrast medium, the lesions were enhancing continually and heterogeneously. The median survival time of spinal ES was shorter than extra-spinal lesions(p<0.05).The CD56+ in the spine of the Ewing's Sarcoma was higher than that in the extra-spinal bone ES(6/9>4/14).The short T1 signal in the Ewing's Sarcoma is related to the CD56+(p<0.05).Conclusion:The imaging features of spinal ES have some characters, and the pathological confirmation is indispensable for some cases. The spinal ES was smaller than extra-spinal lesions. The spinal ES was enhancing more than extra-spinal lesions. The clinical prognosis of spinal ES is worse than the extra-spinal lesions(p<0.05). |
