Slow transit constipation(STC)in colon is the typical type in functional constipations.To study the effect of STC model made on the intestinal microbiota and enzyme activities,provide basis on the treatment of STC.The relationship between intestinal microbiota and enzyme activities in mice with STC was studies to provide the basis on its mechanism of action.The Kunming-mice were randomly divided to several groups,then all constipated mice were induced by compound diphenoxylate tablets and the mice of masculine group were treatmented by Maren Runchang Wan.The start time of defecation,the number and weight of feces within 6 h,the small intestinal transit,intestinal microbiota and enzyme activities were observed.Compared with the constipated group,the high dose group(2.00 g/kg)showed that the fecal number significantly higher(P<0.01),the difference of the dry weight was statistically signicant(P<0.001),the time of first black feces were shortened(P<0.05).The small intestinal transit significantly improved(P<0.05);the amount of Bifidobacterium,Lactobacillus were increased(P<0.05?P<0.01)and the amount of Escherichia coli was reduced(P<0.01).Xylanase and protease were no significant difference when compared with control group(P>0.05).Compared with the constipated group,the high dose group(0.20 g/kg)showed that the fecal number significantly higher(P<0.001),the difference of the dry weight was statistically signicant(P<0.05),the time of first black feces were shortened(P<0.05).The small intestinal transit significantly improved(P<0.05);the amount of Bifidobacterium,Lactobacillus were increased(P<0.01)and the amount of Escherichia coli was reduced(P<0.01);the amount of Bifidobacterium,Lactobacillus were increased(P<0.01)and the amount of Escherichia coli was reduced(P<0.01).Xylanase and protease were no significant difference when compared with control group(P>0.05).Bian-Mi-Tong and GMDZ can significantly improve defecation conditions,promote intestinal movements,and regulate the balance of intestinal microflora and the intestinal enzyme activity in STC mice.The experiment provides a clear evidence that two lupus recipes could become an effective compound preparation to treat constipation.
