ObjectiveTo detect the root surface after ultrasonic scaling under microscope and under direct vision.Methods1.10 extracted teeth with periodontitis were chosen.Twenty root surfaces were randomly divided into 2 groups(microscope and direct vision),evaluated by methylene blue analysis after ultrasonic scaling.2.6 extracted teeth with periodontitis and 2 healthy teeth were chosen, divided into 4 groups. After ultrasonic scaling, the surfaces were observed under scanning electron microscope.3.6 extracted teeth with periodontitis and 2 healthy teeth were chosen, divided into 4 groups. After ultrasonic scaling, the surfaces were observed under nanoindenter.4.6 extracted teeth with periodontitis were chosen, randomly divided into 2 groups(microscope and direct vision). After ultrasonic scaling,PDLC were incubated on the root surface, and evaluated by CCK8 assay.ResultThe differences of the residual calculus between microscope group and direct vision group were statistically significant(p<0.05).SEM and nanoindenter show a similar result, that microscope group have a smoother surface.CCK8 assay shows a significant difference between two group(p<0.05),the optical density of microscope group is higher than direct vision group.ConclusionsMicroscope can improve the effectiveness of ultrasonic scaling.
