Objective: To evaluate the short-term efficacy of three drugs on root?dentin sensitivity following periodontal initial therapy,and their effects on dentin tubules in the dentin sensitive model,with a view to supply the refreshing approach for the selection and clinical application of Flairesse Prophylaxis varnish,as well as other desensitizing agents.Methods:1.Experiment one: From January 2019 to January 2020 in the Department of Oral Medicine,Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University,71 teeth of 52 patients,with root-dentin hypersensitivity(VAS>3)one week after scaling and root-planing(SRP),were selected.All teeth were randomly divided into: group 1(Flairesse Prophylaxis varnish),group 2(3M ESPE Adper? Easy One self-etching adhesive),and group 3(Sensodyne Repair & Protect).They were given air blast stimulation and tactile stimulation,then the visual analogue scale(VAS)was recorded before treatment and immediately after treatment.Sensitivity scores were re-recorded 1 week later.Statistical analysis was performed on the collected data to evaluate the short-term efficacy of the three desensitizers.2.Experiment two: Eighteen fresh premolars and third molars extracted were made into 24 dentin discs.35% phosphoric acid was used for acid etching to prepare a dentin sensitive model.The subjects were randomly assigned to receive four treatments: Group A(normal saline)? Group B(Flairesse Prophylaxis varnish)?Group C(3M ESPE Adper? Easy One Self-Etch Adhesive)? Group D(Sensodyne Repair & Protect).Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)was used to observe the morphology of the dentin surface and vertical section,and then photos were taken and imported into image-Proplus 6.0 Image analysis system to compare the blocking effect.Results:1.Analysis of VAS value of air blast stimulation:There was interaction between intragroup factor and intergroup factor.The factor analysis within group was P < 0.05,and the difference in VAS value at each time point was statistically significant.The instant VAS values was significantly lower than that before treatment,and the effect was significant.The effect was gradually stable from immediately to 1 week,and the decrease of VAS value became slower,but some of them may increase.The factor analysis between groups was P < 0.05,and the difference in VAS value among the three treatment groups was statistically significant.The treatment effect was:group 1(fluoride varnish)= group 2(Adhesive)> group 3(Sensodyne Repair & Protect).2.Analysis of VAS value of tactile stimulation:There was a statistically significant difference in VAS between pre-treatment and post-treatment in three experimental groups(P < 0.05),but there was no statistically significant difference between the two time points after treatment.The instant VAS values of the three groups were compared,and there were differences among the three groups.The treatment effect was: group 2(Adhesive)> group1(fluoride varnish)> group3(Sensodyne Repair & Protect).There was no statistically significant difference between the efficacy of the group 1 and the group 2 at 1 week of treatment,but the difference between the two groups and the group 3 was statistically significant.3.SEM observation showed that the three groups of medicines had obvious obstructions blocking the dentinal tubules.The sealing effect in descending order was group D(Adhesive),group B(fluoride varnish),group C(Sensodyne Repair & Protect).Conclusions:All three desensitizers had good instant desensitization effect and deserve the clinical expansion.However,the short-term desensitization effect of Flairesse Prophylaxis varnish and 3M ESPE Adper? Easy One self-etching adhesive was better than that of Sensodyne Repair & Protect.It is recommended to choose reasonably according to the clinical condition.
