The Design And Application Of Mobile Nursing Station Based On 4G Wireless Network

Mobile nursing station refers to wireless mobile devices used by both clinical nursing staff and nursing information managers to transfer nursing operations from nursing stations to patients through network call and write-back in HIS system.The station can effectively bring nurses, patient information closer to patients, and track doctor's instructions. The application of 4G wireless network can break the "wall" between hospital and patients. Cross-network and cross-platform mobile nursing enables seamless access to different operation systems, mobile computing, data transmission, resources sharing. It is essential to the nursing management of modern hospitals because it can provide timely, accurate information to any authorized users anytime anywhere.Based on the situation of Chenggong Branch Hospital, and a complete investigation of workflow, the system of mobile nursing station is designed with four functions:query, record, comparison, and management. Query allows users to consult doctor's instruction, patients' information, hospitalization expenses, and nursing records etc.; record includes nursing documentation, nursing rounds etc.; comparison contains identity comparison, medicine check, specimen examination, implementation of doctor's instruction etc.; management includes performance statistics, nursing supervision etc. To fulfill the functions, the system uses Brower/Server framework, combined with the latest technologies used in similar systems. Meanwhile, bar code, RFID(Radio Frequency Identification), VPDN(Virtual Private Dial Network),mobile computing, and SQLit are applied in the process.Chenggong Branch of First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical School is the first medical establishment in Yunnan province to develop mobile nursing station via 4G wireless network. The paper introduces the whole process of establishing the station,from need ananlysis, equipment selection, coordination and cooperation among multiple departments at the beginning; tracking and correcting errors occurred in use, surveying and estimating new uses of the station during the process; to an overall test and evaluation of the station at last. The successful application of the system proves the viability and effectiveness of the design of the station, which can be helpful to the spread and further development of mobile nursing station based on 4G wireless network.
