The Study Of Diseases And Symptoms Of Meridians In Huangdi's Canon Of Medicine

Objectives:To provide references for constructing system on differentiation of meridians and collaterals by studying the diseases and symptoms of meridians in Huangdi s Cannon of Medicne.Methods:1. Confirming the original texts and referencebooks. According to relevant experts' researches of bibliography and colophon selecting the accepeted Ling Shu and SuWen as the original texts, Proofreading and explanation on Ling Shu, proofreading on Su Wen, Proofreading on Huangdi Neijing Taisu and classic of acupuncture and moxibustion as the referencebooks.2. Defining the connotations and categorys of diseases and symptoms of meridians.3. Extracting the diseases and symptoms of meridians.Analyzing each sentence and then marking the whole diseases and symptoms on Huangdi's Canon of Medicnie by collating and consulting the viewpoints on the original texts and referencebooks. Extracting the diseases and symptoms correlated with pathogenesis of meridians and collaterals based on the basic intension of diseases and symptoms of meridians.4. Recording the diseases and symptoms of meridians into computer and then establishing basic database.5. Sorting and defining the connotations of diseases and symptoms of meridians by referring to modern terminological standard of diseases and symptoms of TCM.6. Analyzing the characteristics of syndromes on diseases and symptoms of meridians.Results:1.Extracting one thousand and fifty-three diseases and symptoms of meridians from Huangdi's Canon of Medicine,there are seven hundred and ninety-three diseases and symptoms of meridians left after rejecting two hundred and sixty same names.2. Sorting the seven hundred and ninety-three diseases and symptoms of meridians to fifteen categories,including pain,bi-disease, limb disfunction diseases, emotions and consciousness disfunction diseases, cold-heat and sweating disfunction, parahypnosis, body disfunction diseases,JiJu-disease, bleeding, head-face-cervical part's disease, chest and hypochondrium's diseases, abdominal diseases, two lower orifices'diseases, gynecologic diseases,other.3.Contrasting the symptoms directorys of Modern TCM,codifying the seven hundred and ninety-three diseases and symptoms of meridians into ninety-five diseases of Modern TCM.Besides,there are fourteen diseases about the shape and color of meridians and collaterals,twenty-five diseases about the color and lustre of skin and another two diseases. It is difficult to sort the whole diseases and symptoms of meridians according to the symptoms directorys of modern TCM which are partially conformming to the original intentions of the diseases and symptoms of meridians.4.Defining the intentions of the ninety-five diseases and symptoms.5.Exploring the syndrome characteristic of the diseases and symptoms of meridians preliminarily.Conclusion:1.There are so numerous diseases and symptoms of meridians which are in wide range that it is difficult to sort them according to the symptoms directorys of modern TCM.2. Pain, With features of channel circulation is the largest symptom among the diseases and symptoms of meridians.3.The connotations of the diseases and symptoms of modern TCM are not the same as the diseases and symptoms of meridians.4. Diseases and symptoms of meridians mostly appear in the form of syndrome.The syndrome shoud include diseases and symptoms resulted from channel-blocking, changing meridians Qi and blood, pothological changes of organs related to channels.
