A Treatment Meta-analysis Of The Electrical Status Epilepticus During Sleep

Background:Continuous spike wave during NREM sleep comprising more than 50%of the entire sleep period can be diagnosed as encephalopathy with electrical status epilepticus in sleep(ESES).Landau-Kleffner syndrome,atypical benign childhood epilepsy with central temporal spike wave variant,epilepsy with continuous slow spike wave of slow wave sleep period and other epileptic encephalopathy can emerge.This kind of special brain activity can affect the function of language,cognition,growth and so on.Therapies like antiepileptic drugs therapy(antiepileptic drug,AEDs),steroid medicines,ACTH therapy,therapy with intravenous immunoglobulin(IVIG)(immunotherapy),the Ketogenic diet(KD)are not significantly effective.As an important method for analyzing of a large number of documents and similar studies,Meta analysis is a kind of evidence-based way to solve the same medical problems(analyze different research papers for the same medical subject).It can not only help to study the drug treatment of diseases,but also has important guiding significance on the prevention and screening of diseases and epidemiological studies.Proper use of Meta analysis can provide much help for clinical work and research.Objective:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of each ESES treatment plan by Meta analysis,to determine the therapeutic value of different treatment options for ESES,and to provide theoretical basis for clinical medication.Method:By searching through the Ebsco database,Elsevier Science Direct database,Medline database,PubMed database,Web of science database,Chinese Journal Full-text Database(CNKI),Chinese biomedical literature database(CBM)and VIP database(VIP),assess the effectiveness of each treatment of ESES disease by combining the effective rate of the included studies.The heterogeneity between the studies was represented by Q test and I2 statistic.If the heterogeneity between the studies is large,the random effects model(REM)will be used to improve the efficiency,otherwise the fixed effect model(FEM)will be used to merge statistics.Taking the method of treatment as the stratified variable to do subgroup analysis.The stability of the results after a study will be examined by the method of influence analysis and the publication bias will be examined by funnel plot.The analyses of data will be done with Stata 13.0.Conclusion:The result of Mate analysis shows the clinical efficacy of Ketogenic Diet is the lowest.And comparing with antiepileptic drug treatment,surgical treatment is more effective.
