ObjectiveUp to 60%patients with rectal cancer sphincter-sparing surgery exper ience defecation disorders including incontinence, frequency, urgency,or feeling of incomplete empting, which defined as Low Anterier Resection Syndrome.Low Anterier Resection Syndrome has a significant impact onquality life and results in many patients opting for a permanent colostom y to avoid these symptoms. The aim of the study is to ivestigate a new dia gnosis and treatment program for defecation disorders of patients with re ctal cancer sphincter-sparing surgery and evaluate the effect of biofeed back and acupuncture therapy on LARS.Methodspaitents who suffering LARS after rectal cancer sphincter-sparing surgery were divided into the experimental group and the control group..The researchers are required to fill the case report form including basic information, defecation score and quality of life. The experimental group are given to the biofeedback training combined acupuncture treatment. The control group are given to defecation function training program. The two group for the three times a week, six weeks of continuous treatment. All patients need to repeat the train program at home.Observe and record the case report form cluding the defecation score and quality life before tra ining and 3 month after Training. All the data results were analyzed bySPSS21.0 statistical software.ResultsNo significant difference among the two group in baseline characteristics after the test(P>0.05).There were statistically differences among the two group in the defecation score and quality of life before training and 3 month after Training(P<0.05).ConclusionThe results revealed that the mean defecation scores after treatment than before surgery have improved, whatever the experimental group or the control group, anal function gradually restored.Defecation score and quality of life in experimental group after treatment in 3month relative to the control group improved significantly.Biofeedback combined with acupuncture therapy has advantages in the treatment of rectal anterior resection syndrome, which can be used as a new treatment program for rectal anterior resection syndrome.
