Objective: Hoarseness is a common complication afer tracheal intubation and prolonged hoarseness may be very limiting for a patient. The aim of this study was to compare the incidence of hoarseness after Laryngoscope and lightwand guided intubation in general anesthesia, combing with the subjective and objective standard of hoarseness. Methods: 60 ASAⅠorⅡ female patients aged 20-60 years undergoing elective surgery under general anethesia were randomly divided into 2 groups: Laryngoscope group(A,n=30)and Lightwand group(B,n=30).Evaluation of patients voice was carried out at two intervals: One day before operation and 24 h afer extubation.Subjective evaluation using LASA scale, the objective evaluated of Praat software for voice noise fundamental frequency perturbation(Jitter),Fundamental frequency(F0)detection.Recorded the duration of intubation and the recovery of postoperative hoarseness time. Results: The comparison between the two groups, compared with the B group,A group intubation operation time was shorter,LASA Scale score, postoperative hoarseness and recovery time were shorter, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the two group of F0,Jitter showed no significant difference(P>0.05).Within the group, the two groups in comparison with Jitter were statistically significant(A group P=0.000,B group P=0.000).Changes of F0 score and LASA Scale were no correlation(correlation coefficient: A group r=0.026;B group r=0.045)and LASA changes in the value of the Scale score were positively correlated correlation(correlation coefficient A group r=0.880,B group r=0.882),intubation time and postoperative recovery time were positively related to sound correlation(correlation coefficient: A group r=0.579,B group r=0.418).Conclusions: Vocal cord dysfunction and arytenoid cartilage dislocation never occurred in our study and such hoarseness seems to be transient and innocent. It is suggested that the normal operation can avoid vocal cord dysfunction and arytenoid cartilage dislocation,no matter what we used for intubation. The transient postoperative hoarseness following intubation was due to laryngeal damage or the intubation trauma.Combing with the subjective and objective standard of hoarseness,a certain degree of postoperative hoarseness was happened after general anesthesia endotracheal intubation, lightwand can reduce the incidence of postoperative hoarseness and laryngeal trauma, decrease the time of intubation,it is better for the recovery of postoperative hoarseness.
