The Expression And Significance Of Interleukin-17C In Nasal Polyps

Objectives:To study the expression of interleukin-17C(IL-17C)in nasal polyps,and investigate the meehanism of IL-17C in the pathogenesis of CRSwNPs,Methods:Fifty specimens from chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps in patients who undergone endoscopic sinus surgery in the department of otolaryngology head and neck surgery in our hospital were collected as nasal polyps group,and ten specimens of middle turbinate mucosa from patients with deviation of nasal septum were as the control group.With the reference to the results of HE staining,nasal polypstissues were divided into two types:ECRSwNPs,NECRSwNPs.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of IL-17C of nasal polyps in 50 patients and 10 cases of middle turbinate mucosa in control group.Results:1.There were 24 ECRSwNPs cases(48%)and 26 NECRSwNPs cases(52%)in nasal polyps patients.2.IL-17C was mainly expressed in the epithelial cells of nasal polyps.The expression of IL-17C in the nasal polyps group was significant higher than the control group,the positive rate of ECRSwNPs was 87.5%,the positive rate of NECRSwNPs was 73.1%,the pesitive rate of control group was 20%,and there was significantly statistical difference between the nasal polyps groups and the control group respectively(P<0.01).3.The expression intensity of IL-17C in epithelial cells of ECRSwNPswas higher than that of NECRSwNPs,and there was statistical difference between the two groups(P?0.05).Conclusions:IL-17C is an importarnt eytekine that causes the onset of CRSwNPs,and IL-17C will become a new target for nasal polyps therapy.
