Objective:Objective:In our study,we investigated the incidence of radial shortening after nonoperative treatment of distal radius fractures and analyzed the related factorsthat may cause the shortening of the radius, put forward the corresponding preventive measures,to provide reference for clinical treatment of this kind of fracture.Methods:87 patients with distal radius fractures treated by non operative treatment fromMarch2012 to July 2016 were collected as research object. They were divided into radial shortening group and control group according to the imaging of patients with non operative treatment over 6 weeks.Observed the incidence of radial shortening after non operative treatment of distal radius fractures, and analyzed the related factors includeage, gender, types of fractures, non operative treatment ways, and osteoporosis by using single factor screening and multivariate Logistic regression analysis.Results:(1)In this study,50 patients were found radial shortening after non operative treatment, the incidence of bone shortening was 57.47%.(2)Single factor analysis showed that there was no significant difference in gender between the shortened group and the control group(P>0.05),while the differences were all statistically significant in age, gender, types of fractures, non operative treatment ways, and osteoporosisbetween the shortened group and the control group(P<0.05).(3)Multivariate logistic regression analysis showedthat types of fractures as independent factorseffected the occurrence of radial shortening after nonoperative treatment of distal radius fracturessignificantly(P<0.05).Conclusion:The incidence of radial shortening was higher after nonoperative treatment of distal radius fractures. The types of fractureswereindependent factors for the occurrence of radial shortening after nonoperative treatment. We should conduct comprehensive analysis and evaluation of radial shortening when we used nonoperative treatment to treat the patients with distal radius fractures. For patients with severe fractures of the distal radius we need to prolong fixation timeor adopt a surgical treatmentto reduce the incidence of bone shortening at the same time.
