Objective: This study was aimed to discuss factors related to immune status in patients suffering subclinical genital herpes and the corresponding improvement after treatment of immunomodulator.Methods: To detect the shedding of HSV,fluorescent quantitation polymerase chain reaction was used.Flow cytometry was performed to evaluate the patients' immunity function.HSV shedding-positive group and HSV shedding-negative group,high-frequency(recurrence?6times/year)and low-frequency(recurrence<6 times/year)group were compared,peripheral blood lymphocyte percentage before and after immunomodulator therapy was tested.Results: HSV shedding-positive group showed significantly lower CD3~+,CD4~+,CD4~+/CD8~+T-cells than HSV shedding-negative group(P<0.05).High-frequency group showed significantly lower CD3~+,CD4~+,CD4~+/CD8~+,natural killer cell than low-frequency patients(P<0.05).High-frequency group showed significantly higher CD8~+T-cells than low-frequency group(P<0.05).Patients showed significantly lower CD3~+,CD4~+,CD4~+/CD8~+,natural killer cell and significantly higher CD8~+T-cells than control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference of B cell(P>0.05).Post-therapy group showed significantly higher CD3~+,CD4~+,CD4~+/CD8~+,natural killer cell and significantly lower CD8~+T-cells than pre-therapy group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference of B cell(P>0.05)between these groups.Conclusions: Immunocompromise was observed in patients with subclinical genital herpes.The immunosuppression was severer in HSV shedding-positive patients and high-frequency ones the patients' s immune status was improved after combined application of immunomodulator.
