Science and technology innovation plays an important role in the progress and development of human society.Knowledge,as an important tool and carrier,and its flow and diffusion between the subjects of science and technology innovation are crucial in this innovative process.The cooperation of scientists,the dissemination and citation of scientific and technological literature comprise a dynamic network of knowledge cooperation and flow.The co-behavior is the explicit characteristics of knowledge flowing between different innovation subjects and stimulating innovation.Therefore,the question of how to combine knowledge network structure,network flow measure and the effectiveness of scientific and technological innovation has become one of the utmost challenges.Therefore,the application of innovation cooperation and knowledge network in a specific discipline,evaluating the flow of knowledge and assessing the novelty,is rarely discussed,particularly in the bio-medical fields.The results producing by the bio-medical field is critical to the goal of build a“healthy China” and promote the upgrading of industrial structure.At present,the bio-medical field is growing fast,and the cutting-edge technologies is booming along with a serial of achievements being made.As such,the field of bio-medicine has been a strategic industry for the advancement of science and technology as well as a typical area of productivity and competitiveness in all countries worldwide.Bio-medicine is a field with enrichment of subject knowledge,in which knowledge flows,and scientific personnel are frequently communicated with scientific literature as a carrier,thus forming various knowledge networks.Stem cell technology is one of the most important strategic technologies in modern bio-medicine.Since 2006,the field of induced pluripotent stem cells(iPS cells),as a forefront field rising and rapidly developing in the 21 st century,present the world with a number of world-class breakthrough.These achievements won the Nobel Prize in Physiology and in Medicine in 2012.Therefore,this paper takes iPS cells field as the research object,and studies the knowledge network in iPS cells field.In this thesis,the literature included in the Scientific Citation Index Database(SCI)in the field of iPS cells from 2006 to 2015 were used as the analysis object.The co-authoritative knowledge network was used as the analysis carrier,and the methods,such as literature research,bibliometrics,social network analysis,and the tools including Thomson Data Analyzer(TDA),UCINET,NETDRAW,were used for analysis.Firstly,we constructs index systems,including knowledge influence,network scale and network structure,analyzes the global co-authoring network from three aspects: national co-network,organization co-network and scientist co-network,compares the characteristics of network and temporal evolution of China,the United States and Japan,and analyzes the law of knowledge flow and diffusion in the network.Through this research,we hope provide the decision-makers in the science and technology management departments with recommendations on scientific and technological innovation behavior.This thesis compromise six sections as follows,Part Ⅰ.The first part systematically introduces the concepts involved in this research and the status in quo of the knowledge network.These basic concepts introduced include knowledge network,knowledge flow,stem cells and iPS cells,etc.,and further introducing the concepts of knowledge network topology,network model,measure index,which are the theoretical basis of this study.Part Ⅱ.The development course and characteristics of iPS cells technology were reviewed.We divide the decade,from 2006 to 2015,into three stages as budding period(2006-2009),rapid development period(2010-2012)and slow development period(2013-2015).Subsequently,we summarizes the development profile and main features of iPS cells research during these three periods,summarizes the country distribution,top institutions in the fields of iPS cells research,and indicates the major trend of i PS technology and estimated challenges.Part Ⅲ.The co-network of iPS cells is a complex network depending on its characteristics of development and regularity and some related study results.We establish a series of measure Indies and measure methods on the basis of knowledge influence,network scale and network structure,and,successfully,construct a knowledge network measure model for describing the features of knowledge network of the iPS cell research domain.Part Ⅳ.We studied the characteristics of the global knowledge network,and compared the differences of knowledge networks among the United States,Japan andChina.By using the software like TDA,UCINET,NETDRAW,we observed the knowledge influence,network scale,network structure in the co-networks in the levels of country,institution and individual scientist.Therefore,we presented not only a comprehensive characteristic of co-networks of the global iPS cells fields,but also the structural characteristics and flow characteristics of the knowledge networks of different countries,institutions and scientists.Part Ⅴ.We compared the time evolution characteristics of the iPS cells fields between 3 countries,USA,Japan,China,in the aspects including national co-network,the organization co-network and the scientist co-network.Part Ⅵ.We summarized the differences and the existing problems of co-network among China,the United States and Japan.Based on the co-network evolution characteristics of the United States,Japan and China,and the co-network characteristics of Harvard University,Kyoto University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences,we put forward the solutions and suggestions on China’s cooperation network in the country,the organization and the science,and provide the theoretical reference and basis for the relevant departments to formulate the iPS cells development strategy.In this paper,the knowledge network analysis method is used to explore and research the knowledge network static network characteristics and its knowledge flow behavior of iPS cells.However,this paper has not been involved in the dynamic aspects of knowledge flow velocity,flow efficiency and flow path in the network,which will be my next research direction.
