Objective: To investigate the impacts of hemodiafiltration(HDF)on immune-adherence function and oxygen affinity of erythrocytes in maintenance hemodialysis patients. Methods: 1.A total of 28 MHD patients treated in The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and 20 healthy controls were enrolled.2.MHD patients were given HDF therapy for 4 hours each time, the treatment parameters were as following: pre-dilution mode, bicarbonate dialysate, blood flow rate: 250-300ml/min,dialysate rate: 500ml/min,exchange liquid rate:125-150ml/min.3.Erythrocyte rosette test and Elisa were used to detect erythrocyte rosette rate(E-C3 bRR and E-ICRR)and 2,3-bisphosphoglyceric acid(2,3-DPG)respectively.Serum creatinine, urea nitrogen,?2-microglobulin(?2-MG),carbon dioxide combining power, serum phosphate and serum potassium level were measured.4.The E-C3 bRR,E-ICRR,erythrocyte 2,3-DPG and biochemical indexes were measured in MHD patients(pre-and post-HDF),the E-C3 bRR and E-ICRR were also measured in healthy controls.5.Differences of E-C3 bRR,E-ICRR,erythrocyte 2,3-DPG and biochemical indexes between pre-and post-HDF in MHD patients were compared, and differences of E-C3 bRR,E-ICRR between MHD patients and healthy controls were compared as well. Results: 1.The E-C3 b RR and E-ICRR of MHD patients(both pre-HDF and post-HDF)were lower compared to healthy controls(P < 0.05);2.The E-C3 bRR of MHD patients were higher after HDF therapy(P<0.05);3.There was no statistic difference either in E-ICRR or in erythrocyte 2,3-DPG between pre-HDF and post-HDF(P>0.05);4.Compared with pre-HDF,carbon dioxide combining power increased after HDF therapy in MHD patients(P < 0.001),whereas blood creatinine, urea nitrogen,?2-MG,blood phosphate decreased(P<0.001).Conclusions: The immune adherence function of red blood cell was reduced in MHD patients, and HDF therapy could improve immune-adherence activity of erythrocytes, whereas did not alter oxygen-affinity of hemoglobin in MHD patients.
