Objective: To observe the effects of Dragon's Blood and Houttuynia cordata Thunb on Colon Mucosa DamageIndex and the morphology and pathological changes of colonic mucosa in UC model rats,and to investigate the changes of SOD and MDA in UC model rats,and to evaluate the therapeutic effect of Dragon's Blood and Houttuynia cordata Thunb on UC,and to explore whether the combination of the two drugs has synergistic effect on the treatment of UC and its mechanism,so as to provide the basis for the standardized treatment and medication of UC.Methods: The SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group and model group.The model group was given 2,4,6-trinitroBenzenesulfonicacid and ethanol to establish UC model.All the model rats were randomly divided into Dragon's Blood treatment group ? Houttuynia cordata Thunb treatment group ? Dragon's Blood and Houttuynia cordata Thunb low dose ? middle dose and high dose treatment group,salicylazosulfapyridine treatment group and model control group after the UC model rats were made successfully.After two weeks of intragastric administration,blood samples were collected from heart and then measuring the serum SOD ? MDA by detection.Cervical dislocation of the rats were sacrificed and the specimens were taken for examination.Results: After administration of the rats,the body weight of each groupwas increased.There was no significant difference between the middle and high dose groups of Dragon's Blood and Houttuynia cordata Thunb(P> 0.05).Comparing with SASP group?Dragon's Blood group and Herba Houttuyniae group,the middle and high dose groups was statistically significant in the weight gain.(P< 0.05).The edema group of rats with colonic mucosal congestion and edema,erosion and ulcers and other symptoms have improved.There was no significant difference between the middle and high dose groups and Dragon's Blood group and Herba Houttuyniae group in improving symptoms(P>0.05).Comparing with SASP group,the middle and high dose groups was statistically significant In reducing CMDI(P< 0.05).Serum SOD concentration were increased,serum MDA concentrations were reduced in the edema group of rats.Compared with SASP group,Dragon's Blood group and Herba Houttuyniae group,the middle and high dose groups have a greater lift(P <0.05).Conclusion: In this study,we found that the middle and high dose groups of Dragon's Blood and Houttuynia cordata Thunb were able to improve colonic mucosal congestion and edema,erosive bleeding,ulcer and other symptoms,improve serum SOD activity,reduce MDA content,suggesting that the middle and high dose groups of Dragon's Blood and Houttuynia cordata Thunb of UC rats have a better therapeutic effect comparing with SASP group?Dragon's Blood group and Herba Houttuyniae group.Its mechanism may be through the strengthening of the body's antioxidant capacity,inhibition of tissue lipid peroxidation,stable cell membrane,thus protecting the intestinal mucosa,promote ulcer healing,so as to achieve the role of treatment of UC.
