Clinical Research Of Cardiovascular Autonomic Nerve Dysfunction In Patients With Partial Epilepsy

Objective:To investigate the cardiovascular autonomic nerve dysfunction in patients with partial epilepsy,and study the relationship of cardiovascular autonomic nerve dysfunction with age,BMI,disease duration,seizure focus,seizure type and the control of seizures.Methods:Forty-nine patients with partial epilepsy and thirty-five normal control were selected.All subjects were tested respectively on 24 h dynamic ECG monitoring,comparative analysis of the two groups heart rate variability(HRV)indexes.Duration,seizure focus,seizure type and the control of seizures in patients with epilepsy were investigated.Explore the related factors affecting HRV.Results:There was no obvious difference between the two groups in general data including age,gender,height,weight Body Mass Index(BMI)(all P>0.05).The standard deviation of normal R-R intervals(SDNN),root mean square successive difference of normal R-R intervals(RMSSD),high frequency power(HF)of HRV in the group of epilepsy were significantly lower than those in control group(all P<0.05),and LF/HF in the group of epilepsy were obvious higher(P<0.05).However,there was no difference between the two groups in low frequency power(LF)(P=0.16).There was no correlation between BMI,seizure type and HRV in patients with epilepsy(all P>0.05).But HRV in epilepsy patients was associated with age,disease duration,seizure focus,and the control of seizures(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Cardiovascular autonomic nerve dysfunction was found in the patients with partial epilepsy,turning out to be higher sympathetic activity but lower parasympathetic activity.More importantly,these changes were associated with age,disease duration,seizure focus,and the control of seizures.This study suggested that patients with partial epilepsy who were older,having a longer duration,the temporal focus and more intractable epileptic seizures had more obvious cardiovascular autonomic nerve dysfunction.
