Objective: Through clinical efficiency of sepsis patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction,as well as its clinical correlates of Acute Physiology And Cllronic Health Evaluation ?(APACHE ?)score, gastrointestinal dysfunction score,intra-abdominal pressure,Gastrin(GAS)and Motillin(MTL),to investigate the mechanism of Yinghuang Decoction on this disease. Methods: A total of 38 cases being observed were sepsis patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction in our hospital emergency treatment intensive care unit(EICU)during July 2016 to January 2017.These cases were randomly divided into the treatment group of 19 cases and the control group of 19 cases based on the random number table method. There were no statistical significance in sex,age and intra-abdominal pressure between both groups(P>0.05).Basic therapy of sepsis were carried out in both groups, while Yinghuang Decoction was additionally used in nasal feeding or oral ways for the treatment group. Both groups were treated for 7 days to compare basic data,APACHE ? score,Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS)morbidity, mortality and gastrointestinal function related indexes, such as intra-abdominal pressure, gastrointestinal dysfunction score, plasma gastrin and motilin value. The clinical efficiency of gastrointestinal function was evaluated accordingly.Results:1 On the gastrointestinal efficacyThe total gastrointestinal efficacy was 78.9% in the treatment group and52.6% in the control group respectively, showing statistical significance between the two groups(P=0.034).The present study confirmed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group.2 On the APACHE ? scoreAPACHE ? score were lower than those before treatment in both groups.Compared with the cases before treatment, statistical significance were observed in the treatment group(t=43.344,P<0.001),while there were no statistical significance in the control group(t=0.789,P=0.440).Statistical significance between the treatment group and the control group were also observed after treatment(t=-3.138,P=0.003).The present study confirmed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.3 On the gastrointestinal dysfunction scoreCompared with the cases before treatment, the gastrointestinal dysfunction score decreased in both groups. And there were statistical significance in both groups(the treatment group t=5.117,P<0.001,the control group t=2.876,P=0.010).There were statistical significance between the treatment group and the control group after treatment(t=-2.150,P=0.038).The present study confirmed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.4 On the intra-abdominal pressureThe intra-abdominal pressure were lower than those before treatment in both groups.Compared with the cases before treatment, statistical significance were observed in the treatment group(t=18.635,P<0.001),while there were no statistical significance in the control group(t=1.077,P=0.296).Statistical significance between the treatment group and the control group were also observed after treatment(t=-2.796,P=0.008).The present study confirmed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.5 On the GASThe GAS were lower than those before treatment in both groups.Compared with the cases before treatment, statistical significance were observed in the treatment group(t=17.897,P<0.001),while there were no statistical significance in the control group(t=1.495,P=0.152).Statistical significance between the treatment group and the control group were alsoobserved after treatment(t=-3.139,P=0.003).The present study confirmed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.6 On the MTLCompared with the cases before treatment, the MTL increased in both groups. And statistical significance were observed in both group(the treatment group t=-26.409,P<0.001,the control group t=-22.196,P<0.001).There were statistical significance between the treatment group and the control group after treatment(t=2.288,P=0.028).The present study confirmed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.7 On the MODS morbidityAfter treatment, compared with 57.9% in the control group, the MODS morbidity in the treatment group was 21.1%,which had statistical significance(P=0.045)as well. The present study confirmed that the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.8 On the mortalityWith no statistical significance between the two groups(P=0.062),the total mortality of 10.5% and 42.1% were observed in the treatment group and the control group, respectively. The present study still can not explain that the reduction in mortality in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group. Conclusion: The present study confirmed that the gastrointestinal function in sepsis patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction could be significantly improved by Yinghuang Decoction and basic therapy of sepsis. The mechanism of this improvement might be related to the regulation of GAS and MTL secretion of gastroin-testinal hormones.
