The brain arteriovenous malformation(BAVM)is the malformed vascular mass, whith is made up of feeding arteries, abnormal blood vessels and draining veins.Evidence has revealed that VEGF,Notch,Ephrin B2 is closely associated with the occurrence and progress of the human brain arteriovenous malformation vessels. The increasing of VEGF led to by the path has effects on proliferation and migration of vascular endothelial cells to make further development of malformed vessels causing that vessels rupture and hemorrhage. Now the treatments of BAVM include microscopic surgery and endovascular embolization and stereotactic radiotherapy. The three ways all have their own pros and cons. The final decision is to be made by considering many kinds of factors. We consider the drug therapy, whether bevacizumab has effects on the vascular malformation.Bevacizumab,an anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody, may affect the malformation and progress of the blood vessels by specifically blocking VEGF expression in endothelial cells.Reported that it could normalize the BAVM partially. Therefore the drug therapy possibly be a kind of treatment of BAVM.In the present article,we reviewed the mechanism between VEGF,Notch,Ephrin B2 and proliferation and migration of endothelial cells in BAVM and bevacizumab’s effects.
