Objective: Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry(ICP-MS)for the determination of 10 metals,such as manganese,chromium,nickel,copper,molybdenum,cobalt,vanadium,tungsten,lead and zinc,in the air of the welding workplace was established.Acquisition of air samples from multiple welding workplaces,the ICP-MS was used to detect the content of 10 metals and was verified its accuracy and reliability.Methods: The exposure time in the working day with highest concentration of occupational disease risk factors of the welding workplace workers was selecte out.Air samples were collected by short time fixed sampling using the filter air samplers.Nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide was used as filter digestion solution,lutetium(Lu)as an online standard solution,and metals were simultaneous determined by ICP-MS standard mode.Results: The results showed that 10 metals had good linearity within the corresponding concentration range and the correlation coefficients were more than 0.9999.The detection limit was 0.02 ~ 0.48?g / L,the precision RSD <10.0%,the recovery rate was 96.2% ~ 109.0%.The determination results of quality control filter were within the scope of reference value.The practical application of method showed that it can be used to detect low concentration of metal and its compounds in the air.The content of manganese and copper in the welding workplaces air were a little high,the qualified rate of manganese was 90.7%,and the content of the other 8 metals are not detected or very low.According to the different working sites and welding electrodes,the concentration of manganese,copper and lead in air was statistically different(P <0.01);The content of manganese and copper in the electrode was correlated with its concentration in air,which was statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion: ICP-MS can be used to detect 10 metals such as manganese,copper and lead in the welding workplaces air.It has the characteristics of high sensitivity,low detection limit,simple,fast and practical application with accurate and reliable features.
