Objective: To understand health status of workers in a mine of Datong Coal Mine Group, analyze the relationship between their health status and length of service, and provide a reliable reference for enterprises to improve the working environment of workers and perfect occupation health care. Methods: A stratified sampling method was applied.5004 workers of a mine accepted health check during Mar.to May,2015.Among them,1766 workers who work inside the coal mine were selected as the study group, and another 1584 who do not work directly inside in the coal mine were selected as the comparing group.Physical and mental health of the two groups were compared and analyzed,on the base of,firstly, examination such as medicine,ECG,blood pressure, hearing, lung function, chest X-ray,blood & urine routine and ALT,and, secondly, mental health test with symptom checklist(SCL-90).Results:(1)To classify by age,i.e.20 ~ 29,30 ~ 39,40 ~ 49 and ?50.Abnormality rate for each age group from the study group was 17.97%? 57.21%? 83.76% and 86.21% respectively, while this number for each age group from the comparing group was 16.31%,42.16%,63.64% and 64.06% respectively. The difference of abnormality rate of each age group, except 20 ~ 29 group,is statistically significant(P< 0.01).(2)To classify by length of service,i.e.< 5 years,5 ~ 9 years,15 ~ 19 years, and > 20 years.Abnormality rate for < 5 years group from the study group is similar with the comparing group,so it is meaningless statistically(P>0.05).Abnormality rates for other age groups of the study group were all higher than the comparing group,so it is statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)Abnormality rate of the study group are all higher than the comparing group in following examinations: hearing,ECG,hypertension, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, lung texture disorder, chronic bronchitis, suspected silicosis, and gallbladder polyps and gall stone. It is statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)Abnormality rate of different age groups is of statistical significance(P<0.05).Abnormality rate of different length of service groups is also of statistical significance(P<0.05).(5)Mental health status of the two groups were tested with SCL-90.The study group score higher than the comparing group in such aspects as somatization, interpersonal relationship, depression, anxiety and terror(P<0.05).But in such aspects as compulsion, hostility, paranoia and psychosis, the difference is of no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)As the workers get older, the abnormality rate increases.Abnormality rate of the study group is higher. The abnormality rate also increases as the length of service increases.(2)Length of service impacts on hearing of workers.Incidence rate of hearing damage increases as length of service increases.(3)Length of service impacts on silicosis of workers.Incidence rate of suspect silicosis increases as length of service in coal mine increases.(4)The mental health problems of coal mine workers are more serious than those of non-coal mines.(5)This report systematically analyzes the mental health problems of the coal mine workers, aims at improving underground environment from all aspects, working out countermeasures, reducing abnormality rate of workers, and improving physical and mental health of worker. It provides reliable reference for the enterprises to improve the working environment and manage the health of coal mine workers.
