Objective: To analyze the correlation factors of blood pressure variability(BPV),brachial-ankle artery pulse wave velocity(ba PWV)in overweight or obese patients with hypertension.Methods: A total of 339 patients(mean age 50.91±13.04 years;55.5% females)with hypertension(mean disease duration 25.82±44.51 months without treatment)were selected from the outpatient department of Zunyi Medical College.Patients were divided into the normal weight group(n=113),the overweight group(n = 131)and the obese group(n = 95)based on the body mass index(BMI).The blood pressure,heart rate,24-hour ambulatory blood pressure and biochemical values were analyzed by R × C list chi-square test,progressive multiple linear regression and partial correlation for statistical analysis.Results: Compared with the normal weight group,the body weight,waist circumference(WC),hip circumference,waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),blood pressure circadian rhythm(the reduced degree of blood pressure nighttime),24-hour blood pressure variability,nocturnal blood pressure variability,triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),apolipoprotein B(APOB)were increased,whereas left lower limb systolic blood pressure,lower extremity pulse pressure,high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),apolipoprotein A1(APOA1),ankle brachial index(ABI)were decreased in overweight patients with hypertension;body weight,WC,hip circumference,WHR,systolic blood pressure circadian rhythm,24-hour diastolic variability,nighttime diastolic variability,TG,TC,LDL-C,APOB,fasting blood glucose(FPG),blood uric acid(UA)were increased,whereas HDL-C,APOA1,serum sodium,bilateral ABI,bilateral ba PWV were decreased in the obese group.Progressive multiple linear regression and partial correlation analysis showed that ba PWV was positively correlated with WC,HR,FPG,ACR,APOB and UA and negatively correlated with body weight.Night blood pressure variability was positively correlated with ba PWV and negatively correlated with diastolic blood pressure.Conclusion: Overweight and obesity can aggravate the blood pressure variability and reduce ba PWV in hypertensive patients.The correlation factors of ba PWV are age,heart rate and diastolic blood pressure.The change correlation factors of blood pressure variability are ba PWV and diastolic blood pressure.
