With the increasing trend of aging population in China, the increasing demand for medical services has posed a great challenge to the health care system. As an important department of the hospital, the scientific management for the operating room(OR)is very important. The working conditions of medical staffs in the operating room will directly affect the operation time and the working efficiency.Hence,a comprehensive and detailed study on the behavioral factors of the operating rooms' medical staffs, the identification of the main factors affecting the behavior and the quantitative factors of the combined effect are critical to the OR scientific management. The subject of this study is a public 3A hospital in Ningbo.Firstly, the factors influencing the operation efficiency of the OR are summarized and classified by the questionnaire survey, the literature research and the experts interview. The SPSS software is used to analyzed the main influencing factors of efficiency in different categories of the medical staffs. The factors that affect the behavior of medical staffs are identified and a model of working state of medical staff based on Bayesian network is established. The parameters learning is implemented by the processed data from hospital's one month collecting data and then the probability value of medical staff in different working states is obtained.Through the quantitative study of behavior factors,it is found that the efficiency of medical staff is generally not high in current situation.According to the actual resource allocation of the hospital,an operating room discrete event system simulation model considering the behavioral factors on normal case is established.Through the simulation experiment and the analysis of the simulation data, the main influencing factors affecting the simulation data most are identified. The working time factor of the doctor's working state has the greatest impact on simulation.By analyzing the simulation experiment data, the problems occurred in the current operating room management are found, and the reasonable staffing scheme is suggested according to the problem.Mass casualty incidents(MCI)usually give high pressure on the OR management and lead to the different behaviors of medical staffs under the emergency pressure.By studying the characteristics of MCI,an operating room simulation model in MCI urgent mode is built. In the urgent simulation model, the effect of behavioral factors on the surgical model in emergencies is studied. It is found that the behavior factors lead to the obvious fluctuation to the working status and the total process time. Moreover, the working state of nurses is most affected comparing to other medical staffs. The simulation results of medical staff behavior factors can provide more clear direction for hospital managers. The simulation data of the OR simulation model is also more accurate.By usingthe OR simulation model, more scientific, quantitative data support are provided to OR managers. The results of the study for the domestic hospital has universal applicability for the OR managers. It provides a scientific and quantitative management tools.
