Objective: The acoustic neuroma is the most common in intracranial schwannomas, accounting for more than 90% of intracranial schwannomas, accounting for 8% to 10% of intracranial tumors, accounting for 75% to 95% of cerebellopontine tumors. The incidence of epidemiology was 1/10.This disease occurs more common in adults,it is reported the age of the peak is 30 to 49 years old,the average age of onset is 37.2 years,15 years of age and 65 years of age rare,no significant gender differences. And surgical treatment is still the most effective means of treatment of acoustic neuroma. In this paper, through a retrospective study of the Department of Neurosurgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from January 1,1986 to September 30,2016,in which period a total of 553 cases of acoustic neuroma surgery were admitted to hospital and discharged and filed completely,it is aimed at illustrating whether the level of surgical treatment of acoustic neuroma of this hospital in decade has significantly improved and in what level in the country.METHODS: A total of 553 cases of acoustic neuroma were treated by retrospective study from the Department of Neurosurgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from January 1,1986 to September 30,2016,and were grouped every 10 years. The total number of days of hospitalization, the number of days of hospitalization before operation and the time of operation, whether blood transfusion,,resection rate and cure rate, and the recent reservation rate of postoperative facial nerve function, the good and the excellent rate of quality of life assessment, those were taken comparative analysis comprehensively via statistical method.Data processing was performed on SPSS 17.0statistical analysis software. The data in three groups were taken comparative analysis. The qualitative data were analyzed by Pearson chi-square test. The quantitative data were analyzed by ANOVA variance analysis(F test). The difference between the test statistic and the corresponding P value was given. The difference was statistically significant by P<0.05.Results: The total number of days of hospital stay and the number of days of hospital stay before surgery were significantly reduced in the third group in latest decade, and the operation time was significantly lower than that of the previous two groups. The third group had significantly lower blood transfusion rate than the first two groups. The total rate of resection was 89.23%,which was significantly higher than that of the former two groups. The cure rate was 88.08%,which was significantly higher than that of the former two groups. The best and the reservation rate of postoperative facial nerve function in the third group was better than that of the first two groups, the good rate of quality of life assessment(KPS≥60)reached 94.23%,and the excellent rate(KPS≥80)was 45.77%,significantly higher than the previous two groups, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion: These data illustrate that in recent decade, the level of surgical treatment of acoustic neuroma of the Department of Neurosurgery in this hospital has significantly improved and reached the domestic advanced level.
