Effect Study Of Yuanqi Quyu Decoction On Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy After A Vitrectomy Surgery

Objective:To observe and evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect of Yuanqi Quyu Decoction on proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)after vitrectomy.Methods:A prospective cohort study was carried out from January 2016 to February 2017 in Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.Twenty-nine patients(36 eyes)with PDR were included,and vitrectomy were performed,The operative eyes were randomized into the treatment group(n=18)or the control group(n=18).The treatment group was given the Yuanqi Quyu decoction,twice a day for two months as a course.The control group received usual care during the same period.The best-corrected visual acuity,complications of vitrectomy,the fluorescein angiography and central retina thickness,glycosylated hemoglobin were examined 1 week,2months and 5 months after Pas-plana vitrectomy(PPV)to compare the retinal function between the two groups.Results:The vision acuity improved in 9 eyes in the treatment group with the rate 56.3%,and that in the control group was 7 eyes with the rate 48.3%.showing no significant difference between the two groups 2 months after the surgery(?~2=0.500,P=0.480).The vision acuity improved in 7 eyes in the treatment group with the rate 48.3%,and that in the control group was 5 eyes with the rate 31.3%.showing no significant difference between the two groups 5 months after surgeries.The condition of the retina measured by fundus fluorescein angiography at the first week after surgeries showing no significant difference between the two groups(Z=-0.637,P=0.524),showing significant difference between the two groups 2 months at the second month and the fifth month after the surgeries(Z=-1.982,P=0.047;Z=-2.145,P=0.032).There is significant difference between the two groups in the central retina thickness(F=6.147,P=0.019),moreover,the control group decreased more than the treatment group.There is no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence of complications and the glycosylated hemoglobin,the total effect showed significant difference between the two groups.Conclusion:The Yuanqi Quyu Decoction can relieve visual functional damage caused by pas-plana vitrectomy and improve retinal condition of the PDR.
