ObjectThe aim of this study was to detect the expression of transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1(TRPV1)and calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP)in gastric antral mucosa of patients with functional dyspepsia(FD)by immunohistochemistry, and investigate the relationship between TRPV1 and the clinical symptoms of FD patients and the possible mechanism.MethodsFrom January 2009 to November2016,there were 43 cases of FD patients in our department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University included in the experimental group(FD group)according to the standard of Roman III.12 healthy people for physical examination were received endoscopic examination with negative result as normal control group(group N).After analysis of pathological diagnosis for biopsy of gastric antral mucosa, the expression of TRPV1 and CGRP were detected using immunohistochemical staining. Finally a retrospective investigation of the relationship between TRPV1 and the clinical symptoms was performed by appropriate statistical methods.Results1.Positive expression score of TRPV1 in gastric antral mucosa was expressed as quartile, the FD group were 6.0(4.0~7.8),and the group N were 1.5(0.2~4.6).The expression of TRPV1 were significantly higher in gastric antral mucosa in FD patients than that in the group N(P<0.05).The expression of CGRP in gastric antral mucous were 2.6(0.8~5.6)in the group FD and 1.7(0.2~3.5)in the group N respectively, but there was no significant different expression of CGRP between two groups(P>0.05).2.The relationship of the expression level of TRPV1 and the symptom of FD patients: by the rank correlation analysis, there was no correlation between the TRPV1 expression and symptom scores in patients(r =-0.09,p>0.05);3.The expression of TRPV1 between the FD subtypes: EPS group were 5.8(3.3~7.7),PDS group were 6.3(3.8~7.6),mixed group were 6.0(4.0~6.8);by the analysia of variance test, there was no significant different expression of TRPV1 in three FD subtypes(P>0.05);4.The relationship of the expression of TRPV1 and CGRP:by the rank correlation analysis, the relationship between the expression of TRPVl and CGRP was positive correlation in groups N(r=0.066),but there was no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conversely,in the group FD,the expression of TRPV 1 and CGRP was definitely positive correlation(r =0.411,P<0.05).Conclusion1.The expression of TRPV 1 in gastric antral mucosa of FD patients was significantly higher than that in normal healthy people. There was no correlation between the expression of TRPV1 and the symptom of FD patients, and no significantly different expression of TRPV1 among the FD subtypes either.2.There was no significantly different expression of CGRP in gastric antral mucosa between FD patients and normal healthy people.3.Statistically,the expression of TRPV1 was positive correlation with CGRP in gastric antral mucosa of patients with FD.
