BackgroundFunctional constipation(FC)is one of the common clinical functional gastrointestinal diseases. With the increase of modern life rhythm, social competition pressure and the improvement of people’s living standard, the people’s diet and lifestyle have changed greatly, making the prevalence of FC increases year by year. The prevalence rate of college students in colleges and universities in China is 9.37%~27.17%,which is higher than that of community residents, and it may be related to poor diet and living habits and living environment.Long-term constipation is often accompanied by abdominal pain, abdominal distension symptom,if continue to progress,it will be harmful on the digestive, cardiovascular, nervous system, and can also lead to a series of complications, such as hemorrhoids, rectum prolapse, anal fissure, fecal incontinence and so on.reduce the patient’s quality of life, influence the patient’s physical and mental health. But the effect of FC treatment is not ideal. So FC prevention is greater than cure.PurposeThis study explores the current situation of constipation in a city in Henan province, and discusses the risk factors for the functional constipation of college students in the city, and provides references for college students to prevent functional constipation.MethodA questionnaire survey on the functional constipation of 1500 college students in Xuchang city,Henan province was conducted by means of a simple random sampling questionnaire survey. The questionnaire included the basic information and the diagnostic scale of functional constipation, the Chinese college students’adjustment scale(CCSAS)and the college students’life event scale(ASLEC)SPSS 22.0 statistical software package was used to deal with the investigation data. The counting data was expressed as a percentage, and the comparison between the groups was conducted with theχ~2 examination. The analysis of the risk factors of constipation first took the single factor non-conditional Logistic regression analysis, and there were statistically significant factors into the multivariate Logistic regression analysis. The P values in the results were both bidirectional, and P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The odds ratio is calculated by 95%confidence interval. The counting data were selected by theχ~2 test, and the measurement data were analyzed by t test, unit and multiple regression analysis. At the same time,Amos was used to conduct confirmatory factor analysis of college students’adjustment scale and life event scale.Result1.The prevalence of functional constipation of university students in Xuchang is 34.8%.2.The ratio of men to women functional constipation is 1:2.4.3.(1)Different dietary habits are different in the prevalence of functional constipation.Among them, there is a high likelihood that the spicy dieter will be constipated with the list diet.Meat eaters were more likely to suffer from constipation than those who preferred fruits and vegetables.(2)There is no significant difference in the prevalence of functional constipation between the average sleep 4-6 hours per day and the average sleep 8-10 hours per day. There is no correlation between staying up late and the prevalence of functional constipation.(3)People who never exercise every day are more likely to suffer from constipation than those who exercised 30-60 minutes daily.(4)Those who do not have regular defecation habit are more likely to have functional constipation.(5)Those who occasional inhibit defecation are more likely to cause functional constipation than those never inhibit defecation.(6)There is no significant difference in the prevalence of functional constipation between different majors.4.Students with low adaptability of interpersonal relationship, campus adaptation, and emotional adjustment are more likely to suffer functional constipation.5.The failure of examinations, being misunderstanded, disputes with classmates or friends and other negative life events increase the likelihood of functional constipation.ConclusionWomen are more likely to suffer functional constipation.Spicy food, meat food, exercise too little, not on time defecate habit, occasionally inhibition of defecation increase the risk of functional constipation.Interpersonal relationship adaptation, campus adaptation, health adaptation factors, punishment factors, dietary habits, timely defecation and inhibition of defecation are associated with functional constipation.Light diet, fruits and vegetables, regular defecation, moderate exercise, good mood and good adaptability are the protective factors of functional constipation. In conclusion, college students should pay attention to balance diet, the combination of exertion and rest, and learn to adjust their emotions and improve their adaptability, thus preventing functional constipation and improving the life quality.
