Comparative Analysis Of MRI Features Between Atypical And Benign Meningioma

Objective : To investigate MRI features of atypical and benign meningioma for improving the ability of atypical meningioma diagnosis.Method: MRI date of 37 cases with atypical meningioma and 288 cases with benign meningioma confirmed by pathology were analyzed retrospectively.We performed univariate analysis and multivariate Logistic regression analysis to eyaluate the differences of MRI manifestations between the two groups,including tumor size,tumor morphology,tumor location,dural tail sign,tumor-brain interface,peritumoral edema,adjacent bone changes.Results: Tumor size,tumor morphology,tumor-brain interface,peritumoral edema,adjacent bone changes were significantly different between the two groups(P<0.05),while,there was no statistical difference between the two groups in tumor location and dural tail(P>0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed an increased risk for bigger size for atypical meningioma(OR=1.507,P<0.05)and an increase risk for unclear tumor-brain interface for atypical meningioma(OR=2.605,P<0.05).Conclusion: Atypical meningioma and benign meningioma in the following MRI manifestations were different,including tumor size,tumor morphology,peritumoral edema,tumor-brain interface,adjacent bone change.Among them,tumor size and tumor-brain interface are more valuable for differential diagnosis of atypical meningioma and benign meningioma.
